Overview

The Director of Procurement for the Advanced Diagnostics business will oversee a team of Direct Materials commodity managers, responsible for strategy implementation and supplier relationship development to achieve world-class productivity objectives. This is a key role in the Global Procurement organization, one that develops, implements, and executes sourcing strategies that deliver best in class performance at an optimized cost. The candidate will partner closely with sourcing and technical experts in each of Waters' technologies to ensure alignment on strategy to drive favorable cost, material availability and terms. The individual will coordinate across the Global Procurement organization to develop and enforce the adherence of global harmonized processes. The Director, Advanced Diagnostics Procurement has responsibility for driving the organization's goals within the global annual sourcing productivity targets.



Responsibilities

    Reporting to the VP, Global Procurement, this individual will manage team of commodity managers with highly specialized skills in the areas of sourcing, category strategy development, supplier negotiation, and supplier performance management.
  • Through strategy alignment and expert management of internal stakeholders, set conditions to achieve 3-5% year-over-year Procurement productivity improvement. Develop and own the team's productivity objectives as part of the global pipeline.
  • Partner with Materials Planning team to escalate and resolve shortfalls in material requirements for production.
  • Utilize expert contract negotiation skills to drive supply and development agreements to yield productive commercial outcomes
  • Using expertise in data and analytics, enhance leverage in the supply base to obtain best cost, delivery, and technology
  • Align to global harmonized policies, processes and systems that ensure high levels of performance, consistency and efficiency across all categories and technologies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with development, product introduction, quality and manufacturing in creating and executing strategies for enabling new product introduction, reducing material costs, improving quality and ensuring security of supply.
  • Travel: Domestic and International travel is required


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Engineering or related field. MBA is preferred.
  • A minimum of 12 years management experience within a Procurement and/or Strategic Sourcing organization with responsibility for international and domestic supply chains.
  • Expert commercial skills; demonstrated expertise in negotiating complex, global supplier and development agreements
  • Demonstrated track record of managing teams delivering high impact, complex initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to complete quantitative and qualitative analysis and financial models
  • Excellent influencing, planning, problem solving, communication and organizational skills.
  • Relevant market knowledge of Waters or similar products and businesses
