Together, We Own it! Start your employee owner journey with Shorr Packaging. The Senior Logistics Analyst is a critical, high visibility role within Shorr's rapidly growing organization. This position is responsible for collaborating with Operations, Sales, Customer Service, Product Vendors and Freight Carriers in supporting all aspects of the Supply Chain.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: Coordination of outbound 3PL, inbound vendor and drop ship shipments, ensuring timely deliveries to meet our customer's requirements. This role requires a strong understanding of the day-to-day tactical operational activities from management of shipments, order receipt, carrier selection to final delivery. This position will also identify opportunities for service and cost improvements.
The role places a primary emphasis on supporting expansion and managing broader logistics programs, including prospecting, awarding, and onboarding new carriers; optimizing transportation modes across Parcel, LTL, TL, and IMDL; establishing and enforcing carrier KPIs; managing carrier relationships; and conducting carrier network RFPs. The ideal candidate brings an innovative mindset and prior operations or warehouse experience is a strong plus.
Responsibilities
- Prospect, evaluate, and establish new carrier partnerships
- Lead end-to-end carrier onboarding processes, including compliance verification, system setup, and integration into operational workflows.
- Conduct and manage carrier network RFPs, including bid development, analysis, and award recommendations.
- Maintain and grow a diverse carrier network to support evolving enterprise accounts and general logistics business requirements.
- Facilitate communication between Operations, Sales, Vendors and Customer Service to promote a healthy and efficient supply chain.
- Responsible for optimizing carriers to obtain required service levels at the most competitive price.
- Manage the execution of entire shipment and transportation life cycle from order receipt and carrier tender through final delivery to customer.
- Perform daily shipment tracking for strategic customer deliveries to ensure customer expectations are being fulfilled.
- Establish, monitor, and enforce carrier KPIs; conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions when metrics fall below established thresholds.
- Identify and partner with Corporate Logistics Manager on cost savings and operational improvement opportunities.
- Ensure that quality, quantity, customer satisfaction, and financial commitments are met
- Manage freight invoice exceptions
- Ability to utilize the Transportation Management System to quote and route shipments in a cost effective and efficient manner
- Assist with certain functions of freight optimization
- Champion the identification and adoption of new tools, technologies, and processes to improve logistics operations and bring innovative ideas to leadership.
- Manage carrier relationships proactively, driving accountability and continuous performance improvement.
- Assist on special projects as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain, or similar field
- 5+ years' experience in transportation planning, logistics, warehouse operations, or overall supply chain management, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Distribution and warehouse operations experience a plus
- Knowledge of LTL, TL, and IMDL shipment modes of transport and their operations required
- Strong knowledge base of logistics, experience with TMS systems and the ability to learn new systems quickly
- Experience in outsourced Managed Transportation Programs. International logistics experience preferred
- Position requires strong analytical, interpersonal and project management skills, along with being a strong team player
- Demonstrates a high sense of urgency with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; takes ownership of issues and drives them to resolution with exceptional follow-through
- Proactive and adaptable communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and delivers exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal oversight, to ensure objectives and timelines are met
- Must be well organized, capable of handling a variety of issues and assignments
- Firm grasp of supply chain, inventory, distribution, transportation, business, and management principles
- Must be available after hours and weekends during peak season (October through December) to monitor shipments and respond to urgent matters
- Demonstrate leadership skills and take ownership of assigned tasks and goals
- Must have strong organizational skills and extreme attention to detail
- Must have strong interpersonal skills
- Strong relationship building with vendors, customer service and division management
- Strong ability to manipulate and analyze reports
Compensation
The base pay range for this role is $80,000 - $90,000 per year. Shorr Packaging does not provide work authorization sponsorship for this position.
