The battery pack is the heart of every Cybercab and Cybertruck. Keeping our highly automated production lines running at takt is mission critical to Tesla's vehicle output. As Maintenance Manager, you'll own the uptime of the equipment that builds the most advanced battery packs. You bring a proven track record in problem-solving and talent development, with a relentless focus on equipment uptime. You will lead a team of associate managers, maintenance supervisors, and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety. This role requires a strategic thinker with hands-on experience in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
What You'll Do
- Oversee daily maintenance activities across multiple shifts, ensuring efficient operation and uptime of automated manufacturing equipment
- Drive OEE, MTBF, MTTR, PM compliance, and LIFE event response time for the battery pack production lines
- Lead, mentor, and develop associate managers, supervisors, and technicians to enhance technical skills and leadership capabilities
- Implement and optimize preventive/predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and reliability
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and automation issues, employing root-cause analysis to resolve recurring problems
- Manage maintenance budget, spare parts inventory, and overtime to ensure cost-effective operations
- Own weekly maintenance review-out: uptime trends, top limiters, action plans, and budget status
- Partner closely with process, equipment and manufacturing engineering, and production teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and meet department goals
- Support new line commissioning, ramp, and rate-step changes for new product introductions in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a zero-incident workplace culture
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of maintenance experience in industrial settings, with 3+ years in a leadership role overseeing teams
- Proven expertise in maintaining highly automated systems. Equipment includes Siemens/Beckhoff PLCs, Fanuc/Kuka robots, automated dispensing, laser welders, Atlas Copco fastening, electrical testing, among other technologies
- Strong proficiency with CMMS software and data-driven decision-making
- Champion talent development, improve team performance, and foster collaborative environments
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a track record of reducing downtime through innovative solutions
- Experience deploying TPM pillars: autonomous maintenance, planned maintenance, focused improvement
