Serves as the primary technical cybersecurity authority for an Air Force Group, overseeing the security architecture, engineering, and lifecycle management across Air Force enterprises (JWICS, SIPR, and NIPR) and Special Access Program (SAP) enclaves. Leverages a strong network engineering background to ensure the optimization of system performance and seamless connectivity across all domains. Focuses on the secure design, configuration, and troubleshooting of core network infrastructure-including routers, switches, and LAN/WAN architectures-bridging the gap between functional routing protocols, secure port management, and stringent cybersecurity compliance.Additionally, acts as a Senior System Administrator executing complex server tasks, and draws upon Program Manager experience within a Communications (IT/Cyber) background to lead large-scale technological initiatives.Translates complex, multi-agency security policies (NIST 800-53, ICD-503, and JSIG) into executable engineering tasks and system designs. Acts as the principal technical advisor to the Group Commander, Information System Security Manager (ISSM), and Authorizing Officials (AOs) regarding system risk, vulnerability mitigation, and Cross-Domain Solutions (CDS). Drives continuous monitoring and Authorizations to Operate (ATO) for high-stakes mission systems, ensuring zero degradation to global intelligence, command, and control operations.

As the Sr. ISSE, your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:

  • ATO Lifecycle Management: Spearhead the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process for Group-level systems; develop and maintain comprehensive System Security Plans (SSPs), Security Control Traceability Matrices (SCTMs), and robust Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms) for multiple AOs.

  • Group-Level Technical Leadership: Serve as the premier cybersecurity technical mentor; standardize security engineering practices across subordinate squadrons and provide advanced training to junior Information System Security Officers (ISSOs) and System Administrators.

  • SCIF/SAPF Technical Integration: Partner with physical security managers to ensure IT hardware and network installations within Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) and SAP Facilities (SAPFs) meet strict TEMPEST and emit-security requirements.

  • Secure Network Engineering & Infrastructure Optimization: Apply deep network engineering expertise to design, configure, and troubleshoot core LAN/WAN infrastructure (routers and switches). Ensure optimal system performance and connectivity across enclaves by securely configuring routing protocols, managing port authorizations, and embedding network security directly into the physical and logical architecture.

  • Senior Server Administration: Execute advanced Senior System Administrator tasks across enterprise environments; manage physical and virtual server infrastructure, oversee secure OS deployments, manage directory services (e.g., Active Directory), and ensure optimal server performance and hardening.

  • IT/Cyber Program Management background: Utilize Communications and IT/Cyber Program Management background to govern IT project lifecycles. Lead technology acquisitions, manage stakeholder requirements, and synchronize cross-functional teams to ensure engineering milestones are delivered securely, on time, and within budget.

Able to expertly deliver IT/InfoSec related briefings to senior leadership across diverse forums, leveraging standard enterprise tools (e.g., Microsoft Office suite) to present clear, actionable data.

  • Certification (DoW 8140) Must hold at least one (1) of the following advanced certifications in good standing: CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), ISSEP (Information Systems Security Engineering Professional), or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional).

  • Currently possess or be able to obtain a Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (TS/SCI). Employment is contingent upon successful adjudication and the ability to be read into Special Access Programs (SAP) when applicable.
