THE POSITION

Begin a meaningful career as an Administrative Assistant 1 with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. This role gives you the chance to support important administrative work that helps keep the Elk Forest District running smoothly. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides administrative support for personnel processes, purchasing tasks, budgeting work, and district operations. As a Administrative Assistant 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Personnel Support: Assist the District Forester with administrative tasks and maintain personnel records for the district
  • Procurement Tasks: Prepare purchasing documents, track district purchases, and manage bid and invoice processes
  • Budget Monitoring: Maintain budget sheets, track expenditures, and update district financial records
  • Administrative Coordination: Maintain manuals, support training documentation, and handle scheduling and onboarding activities
  • Record Management: Maintain revenue control sheets, emergency contacts, and human resource documentation
  • Communication Duties: Coordinate with regional and central office staff regarding personnel matters and required processes

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position may require travel and overtime as needed.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Emporium. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four year college or university or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires possession of a valid Non-Commercial Class C driver's license.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
