1.0 FTE / 40 hours per week.


Under the direction, guidance and general supervision of the Population Health Manager, the Member Liaison Bilingual is responsible for providing interpreter services during clinic visits along with telephone outreach and follow-up to members and patients for arranging appointments, interpretation, translation, and facilitating transportation when needed. The incumbent will work closely with all departments to assist members and patients with language access needs and to help navigate the GHC-SCW system and help solve service issues when needed.

Job Specific Minimum Qualifications



  1. High school education or equivalent is required. Post high school education is desirable.
  2. Six (6) months to one (1) year experience providing medical interpretation services, or equivalent is required. Experience in an acute care or clinic setting is highly desirable.
  3. National certification through the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreting (CCHI) or the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI) is required.
  4. Demonstrated proficiency in providing interpretation and translation in second language/English language is required.
  5. Familiarity with different dialects or regional variations of the second language, if applicable, in order to facilitate better communication with the target audience.
  6. Possession of a valid State of Wisconsin Driver license, access to a vehicle, and the ability to travel is required.
  7. Access to a cellular phone for work is required.
  8. Ability to provide consecutive phone interpretation when needed and occasional simultaneous interpretation.
  9. Ability to work effectively with a diverse patient population.
  10. Excellent customer services skills. Ability to be culturally sensitive and approach members and patients and others in a non-intimidating and supportive manner, and the ability to represent GHC-SCW in a professional and compassionate manner.
  11. Ability to maintain organizational and patient confidentiality.
  12. Knowledge and/or ability to learn HIPAA requirements.
  13. Knowledge of or ability to learn and use various computer programs including Microsoft Office programs.
  14. Willingness to learn the use of Epic for scheduling and documentation purposes.
  15. Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
  16. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  17. Ability to listen, troubleshoot, and be flexible.
  18. Ability to work efficiently and under stressful situations and harmoniously and cooperatively with the public and all GHC-SCW personnel.
  19. Ability to understand and work closely with community contacts and resources.
  20. Ability to function independently in order to meet organizational goals.
  21. Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet customer needs.
