THE POSITION

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is seeking a seasonal Park Maintenance Worker who wants to make an impact every day. In this role, you will help care for beautiful public spaces and support the operations of several state parks. Your work will help visitors enjoy clean, safe, and well-kept facilities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a seasonal Park Maintenance Worker, you will support the daily upkeep and repair needs of park facilities and grounds at Little Pine, Hyner Run, Hyner View, and Upper Pine Bottom State Parks. The work you will do focuses on cleaning, maintenance and assistance with a wide range of repair tasks. As a seasonal Park Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties:

  • Facility Cleaning: Maintain restroom buildings, shower houses, and cabins through thorough daily cleaning and proper procedures
  • Grounds Care: Mow grass, trim weeds, maintain trails, and remove flood debris from high water events
  • Basic Repairs: Complete minor carpentry, painting, staining, and general building maintenance tasks
  • Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, and park vehicles
  • Trade Assistance: Support skilled trades staff with carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical projects
  • System Maintenance: Perform routine upkeep on water, sewage, and plumbing systems, including unclogging drains and winterizing systems

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2027.
  • Typical work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Shifts and days will vary including weekends and holidays. You will work 5 of 7 days/37.5 hours per week
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
