THE POSITION

As an Administrative Officer 1 with the Department of Labor & Industry, Bureau of Workers' Compensation - Director's Office, you will help lead efforts that keep workplaces fair and compliant. This position gives you the opportunity to oversee, coordinate, and manage the activities of Workers' Compensation Compliance Investigators and clerical staff to ensure and enforce employer compliance with PA Workers' Compensation Insurance requirements. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the oversight and coordination of compliance activities that enforce Pennsylvania workers compensation requirements. It plays a central role in guiding staff, organizing investigations, and ensuring consistent enforcement of the law. As an Administrative Officer 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Staff Supervision: Direct and guide investigators and clerical employees to support workflow and ensure adherence to policies
  • Compliance Oversight: Monitor employer behavior and identify cases of potential violations of the Workers Compensation Act
  • Investigation Review: Assess completed reports, determine next steps, and direct additional investigative work when needed
  • Case Coordination: Prepare cases for court, coordinate with legal partners, and support enforcement actions across the Commonwealth
  • Training Development: Maintain procedure manuals and develop training resources for new and existing staff
  • Stakeholder Communication: Respond to inquiries from attorneys, employers, unions, and insurance representatives regarding compliance matters

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time with the expectation that employees will be onsite two days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in varied office management or staff work; and bachelor's degree; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires possession of a valid driver's license.
