Position Summary:

Adjunct Faculty are scholars and professionals, who teach in their area(s) of specialization and expertise. The primary affiliation of adjunct faculty is not with the university.

Application Description:
Applicants to this position will be considered for a candidate pool encompassing one or more of the subject areas outlined in the job description. This pool will be used to identify qualified candidates for potential appointments during the 2026-2027 academic year.

Starting Salary: $35 hourly (approximate).

Education: Master's, Doctoral or other terminal degree from an accredited college or university, depending upon the needs of the course being taught.

Experience: A minimum of three years relevant experience teaching in TK-12 or transition classrooms in the area(s) and/or field(s) of specialization.

Certifications, Licenses, etc.: Valid credential or License, in the field of teacher education; preference for CA credentials in multiple subject, single subject and/or education specialist.

Skills:



  • The ability to provide effective instruction in evidence-based practices in education.
  • Proficient computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and learning management systems (LMS.)
  • The ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to problem solve.
  • The ability to explain complex requirements in clear and concise terms
  • The ability to be flexible with workflow to meet the needs of the department and students and to manage multiple tasks per required deadlines
  • The drive to encourage, direct, hold accountable and guide candidates toward task completion.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work as an effective team member and develop trusting relationships with students and University employees, as well as the Registrar's Office and various academic departments.
  • Culturally competent and ability to communicate and interact effectively with diverse people.
  • Highly motivated, focused and results oriented.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and tact in all interpersonal interactions, and to maintain confidentiality.
  • Collaboration and partnering with other university stakeholders to support candidate success.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments



Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Facilitating Classroom and Distance/Distributed Learning
  • Course and syllabus preparation
  • Facilitating an asynchronous online CANVAS classroom
  • Delivery of course curriculum according to the syllabus via Canvas
  • Interacting with the District Employed Supervisors (DES) to ensure candidates meet clinical practice requirements
  • Utilizing rubrics for assessment and measurement of candidate learning outcomes Submitting grades, including final grades according to academic policies and procedures Mentoring and supporting of students
  • Engagement in continuous improvement efforts (professional development/reflection) Holding weekly office hours and meeting with students
  • Attend adjunct faculty meetings during contracted term



Internal: Timely interaction/responses with Alliant faculty, staff and students within 24 - 48 hours

External: District Employed Supervisors (DES) as appropriate (Clinical Practice)

Office Location: Remote Work Hours: Asynchronous with occasional evenings and weekends

Travel: None

Work Environment:

Work environment will be in an online classroom setting from the employee's remote location. There will be various meetings held through Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Must have access to high-speed internet in a private setting.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to execute those physical activities required to perform the essential functions including, but not limited to, regular sitting if in the office, or regular standing if in the classroom and being mobile; continual communicating both in person and on the telephone; regular keyboarding; regular reading of both print and digital material; and all other activities required to perform essential functions.
