Job Title: Business Analyst - Business Analyst IIJob Location: Minneapolis, MN Job Description:Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs. Formulates systems to parallel overall business strategies. Writes detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer programs. May require a bachelor's degree in a related area and 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with relational database concepts, and client-server concepts. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. May report directly to a project lead or manager. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. What You'll DoYou'll analyze difficult business processes to identify improvement opportunities and deliver tactical solutions while developing strategic thinking. Working with stakeholders, you'll translate complex problems into actionable outputs, designing short-term solutions that anticipate business changes. You'll take ownership of projects from stakeholder requests while proactively identifying patterns and proposing your own approaches. When roadblocks arise, you'll explore options independently and engage your team when needed, keeping stakeholders informed to manage expectations. You'll leverage your deep business expertise to contribute to team strategy, maintaining strong command of key input and output metrics and how they connect to organizational goals. Through proactive monitoring and multi-domain knowledge acquisition, you'll build flexible solutions that support stakeholders beyond initial requirements. You'll determine what needs automation versus one-time analysis, applying SQL, visualization best practices, and diagnostic techniques including root cause analysis, mix/rate calculations, and pareto analysis to generate high-quality insights. Technical ExcellenceYour work will consistently meet high quality standards-answering appropriate business questions, error-free, and well-documented. You'll handle large datasets using technical tools, set quality checks in automated solutions, and flag upstream data issues to providers. You'll know when to engage Data Engineers, Business Intelligence Engineers, or Data Scientists, effectively transitioning ownership while driving projects to resolution. Impact and LeadershipYour analytical solutions will provide visibility to business performance, highlight anomalies, and reveal new opportunities that inform strategy across multiple teams. You'll optimize analytical best practices, improve team efficiency, and begin influencing strategy while owning items on team roadmaps. You'll establish strong working relationships, mentor developing team members, and may participate in recruiting. CommunicationYou'll share insights through clear, concise written and verbal communication tailored to your audience-from granular discussions with peers to executive summaries for leaders up to three levels above you. You'll facilitate productive dialogue, manage priorities, and create shared understanding to identify risks and meet business needs.
