Under the general direction of the Director, Training, Development and Credentialing; the Training and Development Partner serves as a member of the training department to recommend, develop, and facilitate virtual and in-person training to support college strategic initiatives. Serves as an employee success liaison for new employees and leaders. Establishes a successful start for new employees at the college and is responsible for orientation, onboarding and training to help acclimate employees to the MATC culture and develop key competencies for success. This role also collaborates with the Division of Student Success and Community Engagement initiatives and training and provides administrative tracking and facilitation backup for the college's Leadership Academy.

Work requires the use of independent judgment, working from broad institutional and divisional policies and general objectives.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Training Planning and Stakeholder Engagement: Identifies, plans and organizes training and development needs. Partners with managers in the development of training plans, schedules training and development courses as needed for individual employees and teams, and facilitates in-person and virtual training and development workshops to support employee and team development. Assigns required and elective learning to employees throughout the year to meet college compliance requirements and position required training.
  • Onboarding and Orientation Development and Administration: Develops orientation, onboarding and training plans for new employees and managers. Administers and monitors the college's onboarding processes to ensure timely completion of new employee and manager tasks, accuracy of information, and effectiveness. Facilitates New Employee Orientation and monthly onboarding training series for new employees on MATC essentials. Completes touch-base meetings with new employees to increase engagement at MATC and new hire success.
  • Training Software Management and Education: Designs and updates content in college's onboarding software and learning management system. Transforms existing training content into computer-based courses using Articulate and/or other e-learning authoring software tools. Maintains data entry for the college's learning management system including attendance lists, course completions, and learning transcript records; and runs statistical reports to ensure timely follow up and completion. Serves as the technical trainer for software such as Zoom and the Google suite to ensure employees can successfully use technology while serving customers and students virtually.
  • Training Execution: Prepares and coordinates agendas and support materials for meetings and training events, distributes materials to appropriate individuals, maintains attendance tracking, and provides follow-up of content when required. Creates feedback surveys to determine training effectiveness and utilizing findings to adjust training content in support of continuous quality improvement
  • Compliance Training Planning and Tracking: Serves as the departmental lead for the college's annual mandatory compliance training program. Leads a cross-functional team of internal subject matter experts (SMEs) to design, develop, and refresh annual compliance courses. Takes primary ownership of building the deployment calendar, launching training modules, and tracking institutional completion rates. Proactively monitors employee progress, manages escalation workflows for past-due training, and generates final compliance reports for HR and college leadership, while cross-training peer T&D Partners to ensure backup support.
  • Cross Function Workforce Planning: Meets regularly with peer T&D Partners to assess department-wide bandwidth, map out upcoming training calendars, and dynamically allocate resources to high-priority college initiatives or high-enrollment programs. Participates in continuous cross-training with other T&D Partner(s) to understand all technical disciplines and programs. Serves as a reliable backup to ensure uninterrupted training delivery and support across the department.
  • Leadership Academy Tracking and Backup
    Partners with the Director to support the college's leadership development pipeline, including the Emerging Leaders Program and Advanced Institute for Leadership. Acts as the primary to track participant submissions, evaluate coursework completion, and monitor milestones to ensure accurate progress toward program completion and certification. Serves as the departmental backup to facilitate workshops and guide cohort discussions in the Director's absence as needed.
  • Ethics and Confidentiality: Practices honesty by demonstrating a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles, values, truthfulness and accuracy in all actions. Addresses all student and employee behavior in a confidential and respectful manner.
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Establishes, maintains, and enhances positive work relationships with staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Continuous Learning and Professional Development: Maintains current knowledge of best practices and standards in higher education with an emphasis on community Colleges. Actively organizes and/or participates in applicable workgroups, trainings, workshops, seminars, committees and professional associations or conferences to promote continuous learning.
  • Other duties: Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.

Qualifications

Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Associate's degree or higher in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Course Development, Facilitation, or related field
  • At least four (4) years of related occupational experience working in human resources including course development and facilitation of training, experiential learning, or similar role.

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Course Development, Facilitation, or related field
  • At least two (2) years of related occupational experience working in human resources including coaching emerging or new leaders, and/or certification in leadership training or coaching (e.g., CPLP, ICF)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong public speaking, course development, project management and analytical skills.
  • Ability to compile narrative and statistical reports and conduct research and write policies and procedures.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and explain policies, procedures, and written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written means.
  • Proactive and self-directed with ability to achieve results with minimal structure and direction.
  • Ability to convey an image of professionalism and dedication in work related activities.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse student and employee populations.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and software specific to position, including spreadsheets and the Internet.
  • Ability to work successfully with minimal supervision and serve in a leadership role to others.
  • Ability to establish workflows, manage multiple projects, and meet necessary deadlines.
  • Knowledge of diversity and inclusion strategies.


Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the Human Resources Department and is available to start as soon as possible.

Hours: This position is a full-time exempt position and works 40 hours a week primarily during normal business hours. This full-time position has a probationary period of six months and upon successful completion will then be eligible for hybrid hours. All work must be performed in the state of Wisconsin.

Compensation: Hourly pay rates are listed up to the midpoint of the range and placement is determined based on years of experience, internal equity, and a review of the applicant's employment and educational background as listed on the job application.
