Serves as the primary safety and health resource across assigned districts and multiple operational divisions. Ensures effective execution of safety policies and programs designed to protect employees and company assets, reduce incidents and accidents, and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations.
Essential Functions

  • Implements and oversees safety and health programs, adapting initiatives to local operating environments to protect employees, safeguard company assets, and ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Maintains expert knowledge of local, state, and federal safety and health regulations, ensuring ongoing compliance with environmental, health, and safety programs, company policies, and contractual obligations.

  • Delivers training to enhance safety competence and leadership capabilities.

  • Leads and participates in safety assessments, audits, and inspections to identify hazards, ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company requirements, and drive corrective and preventive actions.

  • Partners with operations to investigate incidents and accidents, conduct root cause analyses, analyze incident trends, and develop corrective and preventive measures.

  • Collaborates with Service Provider Solutions (SPS) to ensure full compliance with IC/ISP contractual obligations, while reviewing safety-related business discussions to maintain alignment with contractual terms and enforce accountability measures as necessary.

  • Maintains strong relationships with enforcement and regulatory agencies and represents the company in industry associations such as Truck Driving Championships.

  • Collaborates with Legal and Operations teams to ensure timely, compliant, and approved responses to regulatory agencies as required.

  • Provides 24/7 response and travels as needed for accidents, injuries, major events, and regulatory concerns; performs after-action reviews and follow-up initiatives.

  • Oversees and supports local Safety Committees, Operational Safety Specialists, Ramp Safety Patrol, and other operational teams, as applicable.

  • Performs other duties as assigned to support organizational safety objectives.


Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in Safety, Human Science, Logistics/Transportation, Business Management, or a related field is required. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, a high school diploma or GED plus four (4) years of relevant experience in Safety, Human Science, Logistics/Transportation, Business Management, or a related field may be accepted, in addition to the minimum experience requirements outlined below.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years of experience in Industrial/Occupational Safety, Commercial Truck Fleet Vehicle Safety, Logistics/Transportation, Surface Operations Safety, Network Operations Safety, Air Operations Safety, or FedEx Operations Management is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license.

  • Strong knowledge of concepts, practices, regulations and industry trends related to industrial/occupational/on-road fleet vehicle safety.

  • Proficiency in software applications, including Microsoft Office and web-based platforms.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or confidential information clearly.

  • Time management and organizational skills to manage multiple projects, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Strong investigation, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and interact professionally with all levels of management.

  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.

Job Conditions

Substantial travel will be required.

Pay Transparency: FEC_E25 5,662.27 - 9,342.75 USD Monthly/based on experience
