This role offers the opportunity to advance independent research while developing professionally in a supportive, world-class academic setting. The Postdoctoral Appointee appointment is a full-time, limited-term position focused on research or scholarship and may include teaching responsibilities.

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research or scholarly activities under the supervision of a faculty mentor or department.
  • Prepare for a full-time academic or research career through advanced training and professional development.
  • Publish the results of research or scholarship during the appointment period.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks or comparable research records in accordance with Duke standards.
  • Uphold the highest standards of responsible conduct in research and scholarship.
  • Comply with all applicable University, departmental, and regulatory policies, including those related to safety, use of chemicals, isotopes, infectious agents, animals, and human subjects.
  • Engage in open, timely communication with your mentor regarding all aspects of research activities.
  • Promptly disclose discoveries, materials, reagents, software, or intellectual property resulting from research activities.
  • Demonstrate collegial, professional conduct consistent with Duke University's codes of ethics and conduct.
  • For some appointments, contribute to teaching or mentoring activities as appropriate.
