  • REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction

    SUPERVISES: Testing Coordinators (in collaboration with Associate Principal for Operations)

    POSITION OBJECTIVE: To oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of a comprehensive student data and assessment system that connects assessment to instruction and facilitates the use of assessment results to target instruction and intervention.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction or related field
    2. Illinois Public Educator License, General Administrative Endorsement, and Teacher Evaluator Designation required
    3. School or district experience in curriculum, assessment, and data analysis
    4. Extensive teaching or administrative experience with in-depth knowledge of current and emerging educational research and best practices for assessment principles and multiple measures of student achievement
    5. Experience with instruction and curricular integration through UbD and UDL for a variety of learners, i.e., diverse learning styles and diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
    6. Deep knowledge of the laws and regulations, codes, policies, and procedures relating to testing, assessment, and evaluation
    7. Fluency with Tableau or other data visualization software
    8. Knowledge of the various content area standards, SEL standards, and technology frameworks

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • teachers, staff, and administrators
    • Ability to analyze data to recommend improvements for curriculum and instructional practice
    • Ability to understand and apply school code and legal documents
    • Ability to make effective presentations and develop practical operating models
    • Ability to interpret, analyze, and use data including statistics and test data
    • Ability to use Google applications
    • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with a variety of audiences, both orally and in writing

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Leads development, implementation, and monitoring of a comprehensive student data and assessment system

    • Evaluates assessment tools used for instruction, intervention, and curriculum evaluation
    • Develop and maintain tools to measure the fidelity of intervention implementation and effectiveness of multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS)
    • Analyzes, synthesizes, and interpret reports from local, state and national assessment and evaluation data as it relates to individual student performance and school improvement for use in decision-making
    • Disaggregates data to identify student achievement trends and opportunity gaps across student population groups
    • Identifies and designs data needed for school improvement, including but not not limited to current district data sources (Panorama, SchooLinks, Canvas, Infinite Campus, etc)
    • Supports building administrators in using school improvement and evaluation data
    • Oversees the administration of state and local assessments, ensuring adherence to testing protocols and security measures
    • Reviews and evaluates results of district-wide testing and other assessments
    • Compiles valid data from multiple assessments to develop student, subject, grade, school, or District performance profiles
    • Keeps informed about current trends and practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment
    • Remains current on changing laws and requirements on state assessments and initiatives
    • Collaborates with educational leaders at various levels
    • Participates in appropriate building and district administrative committees

    Lead administrators and teachers in integrating formative assessment practices in schools and individual classrooms

    • Designs training for building administrators in assessment templates and test blueprints
    • Designs professional learning for teachers and administrators in understanding data reports and using data and assessments to improve classroom practice
    • Advises directors on assessment and rubric development with student performance standards
    • Assists in designing student assessments and manages the administration of various assessments
    • Assist staff in utilizing data to make informed decisions in planning for continuous improvement

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 205 day work calendar with irregular or extended work hours including evenings and weekends.

    WORKING CONDITIONS: The position requires physical activity including lifting, carrying, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and use of fine motor skills. Work is performed indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to temperature extremes and potential safety hazards.     SALARY RANGE: Target hiring range for this position will be between $140,000 to $170,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
