Job Summary

The Customer Service Representative is responsible for supporting customers through order processing, product inquiries, pricing support, and inventory coordination. This role builds strong customer relationships by delivering responsive service, resolving issues, and ensuring accurate and timely order fulfillment. The representative works closely with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to support sales growth and maintain customer satisfaction.


Job Responsibilities

  • Process customer orders received by phone, email, fax, electronic systems, or walk-in counter sales
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding products, pricing, availability, and order status
  • Prepare and provide customer quotes and perform order entry functions
  • Negotiate sales and purchase pricing within established company guidelines
  • Adjust non-contract pricing when appropriate to remain competitive while maximizing profitability
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to encourage repeat business
  • Source products from branch inventory, distribution centers, or supplier inventory
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels for customer needs
  • Expedite backorders and coordinate timely delivery of products
  • Determine cost-effective shipping methods for customer orders
  • Handle customer returns and resolve order-related issues as needed
  • Support assigned customer accounts and maintain high service standards
  • Assist less experienced customer service representatives with problem resolution and product location
  • Perform additional duties as assigned


Job Requirements

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Experience with order entry, quoting, and inventory coordination preferred
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
  • Basic computer proficiency and experience with business systems or ERP platforms preferred


Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required


Work Experience

  • Prior customer service, inside sales, or order management experience preferred
