The Opportunity

We are seeking a Manager, Content to join our Firm. This position will be based in our New York office (hybrid).

The Opportunity

The Manager, Content role is responsible for drafting and editing a wide range of thought leadership materials - including Firmwide publications, client alerts, newsletters, social media posts, podcast materials and more - as well as developing and executing marketing campaigns in coordination with the Firm's business development efforts. The manager will oversee fast-moving, multifaceted publications from start to finish; craft strategic initiatives to market the Firm's thought leadership; and fulfill general content requests.

  • Manages a range of projects across the thought leadership function, collaborating closely with attorneys and the thought leadership team, to develop content strategies aligned with the Firm's business development and marketing goals.
  • Drafts, edits and gains necessary approvals on a variety of content, including client alerts, newsletters, social media posts, podcast materials and more.
  • Builds cohesive marketing campaigns to maximize the Firm's thought leadership in connection with business development efforts - and to amplify the Skadden brand.
  • Reviews industry publications to stay up to date on legal news and practice developments; assists with practice-specific content projects as needed.
  • Works together with the Firm's social media team to develop campaigns and strategies to promote thought leadership and bolster engagement.
  • Collaborates with the Firm's lawyers, as well as business development and PR colleagues, to generate thought leadership ideas and themes, as well as innovative vehicles for distribution and promotion.
  • Considers and executes ways to deploy graphics and data visualizations in thought leadership.
  • Works efficiently with the Marketing Technology and Design teams on thought leadership production and distribution.
  • Collaborates with colleagues across the Communications team to fulfill general content requests and develop cohesive messaging.
  • Reviews content for grammar, style and consistency.
  • Ensures all content complies with Firm policies, brand guidelines and style.
  • Ensures focused, effective materials and copy that is accurate and error-free.
  • Collaborates on strategies for more engaging and reader-friendly content.
  • Demonstrates effective decision-making.
  • Manages Firm resources responsibly.
  • Complies with and understands Firm operations, policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading and journalistic interviewing skills.
  • Current knowledge of industry best practices, trends and techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant Firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems (InDesign and in-house AI platforms).
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities, organizing and prioritizing work and delegating effectively.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters, maintain confidentiality, use discretion, and exercise independent and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of seven years experience in a content marketing function.
  • Legal content and marketing experience preferred.

The starting base salary for this position is expected to be within the range listed under Salary Details. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other-job related factors, consistent with applicable law.

$175,000 - $195,000
