Hyliion is committed to creating innovative solutions that enable clean, flexible and affordable electricity production. TheCompany's primary focus is to develop distributedpower generators that can operate on various fuelsources to future-proof against an ever-changingenergy economy.

Job Purpose

The Senior Facilities Manager owns the reliability, safety, and scalability of Hyliion's Cedar Park manufacturing facility as we transition from limited early production of the KARNO generator into full-scale manufacturing. This role is accountable for keeping every building system - industrial electrical, HVAC, compressed air, process water, nitrogen, propane, and all standard facility services - running efficiently across a mixed-use footprint that includes additive manufacturing, electro-mechanical assembly, warehousing, and office space.

Beyond day-to-day operations, this role serves as a strategic partner to the VP of Operations on facility expansion, capital projects, and utility optimization. The Senior Facilities Manager will lead a planned buildout within the next 12 months, drive measurable ROI through utility and vendor spend rationalization, and apply lean/kaizen principles to build systems and standard work that scale with production. As the facility grows, this role will build and lead a team of Facilities Technicians.

Success in this role directly enables Hyliion's production ramp: utilities and infrastructure ready ahead of every milestone, zero facility-driven safety incidents, high system uptime, and a phased expansion plan that stays ahead of the business.

Duties and Responsibilities

Facility Operations & Building Systems

  • Own day-to-day reliability, performance, and upkeep of all building systems and infrastructure, including electrical power distribution; HVAC, ventilation, and climate control across production, warehouse, and office environments; compressed air and vacuum systems; process water, chilled water, and drainage; and leased onsite nitrogen and propane supply systems
  • Manage all facility services, including housekeeping, general waste disposal, landscaping, and ongoing building maintenance and repair
  • Establish and maintain a preventive maintenance program covering all critical building systems and utility infrastructure
  • Own vendor and contractor relationships - scope work, manage RFQs, evaluate bids, and hold partners accountable for quality and schedule

Utility Optimization, Vendor Spend & Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct ongoing analysis of utility consumption (electrical, compressed air, nitrogen, propane, water) to identify inefficiencies and cost reduction opportunities
  • Audit and rationalize the contractor and vendor spend portfolio - evaluate current agreements, consolidate where appropriate, renegotiate terms, and ensure spend is aligned to actual facility needs
  • Develop and execute high-ROI improvement projects with clear business cases and measurable outcomes across utilities, contracted services, and facility operations
  • Apply lean/kaizen principles to facility operations - drive out waste, standardize responses, and build systems that scale
  • Track and report on utility spend, contractor costs, efficiency trends, and improvement results

Production Support & Equipment Readiness

  • Ensure utilities, floor space, and building systems are ready ahead of equipment installations, line changes, and production ramp milestones
  • Support production equipment installation, relocation, and commissioning in coordination with Manufacturing Engineering
  • Troubleshoot utility-related production issues and participate in root cause analysis
  • Maintain current facility drawings, utility schematics, and load calculations

Expansion Planning & Capital Projects

  • Partner with VP Operations to develop phased facility expansion plans aligned to the production roadmap, including a significant buildout planned within the next 12 months
  • Lead facility-related capital projects from scope development through execution, managing contractors safely during both production and shutdown windows
  • Identify current facility constraints that could limit throughput, safety, or scalability
  • Ensure all facility changes follow appropriate change control and risk assessment processes

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure facility compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFPA, and applicable local building codes
  • Support machine safety systems, emergency infrastructure, and safety interlock requirements
  • Champion safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions
  • Manage inclement weather response protocols to protect employees, visitors, and assets
  • Maintain required safety documentation, including OSHA 300/300A logs

Team Development

  • Build and lead an appropriately sized team of Facilities Technicians to support day-to-day operations and PM execution as the facility grows
  • Develop standard work, training, and accountability systems that scale with the team
