Position Summary

The Managing Director (MD) is responsible for the overall leadership, operational performance, strategic direction, and financial success of the Los Alamos PMO. Reporting to the SVP of Western Operations, the MD leads TechSource's LANL-focused portfolio by driving operational excellence, organizational performance, customer satisfaction, and sustainable business growth across the PMO.This role serves as the senior leader responsible for integrating operations, business development, execution, strategy, client engagement, and organizational culture within a complex national security environment. The Managing Director leads a multidisciplinary team of Project Managers, technical SMEs, and operations and business support staff delivering against LANL and broader Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) missions, while ensuring alignment with TechSource objectives, contractual requirements, and customer expectations.The MD will partner closely with the Operations team and executive leadership to ensure successful delivery, account growth, workforce development, and long-term mission success. This position requires deep knowledge of LANL operations, mission priorities, stakeholder dynamics, and DOE/NNSA environments, along with the ability to lead in a high-consequence, mission-driven organization. This is an onsite role; the Managing Director is required to be based in Los Alamos, NM with regular presence at LANL. Occasional travel to other TechSource sites, customer sites, and DOE/NNSA locations is expected.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & PMO Direction


  • Lead the Los Alamos PMO in alignment with TechSource's mission, strategic objectives, and long-term growth strategy.
  • Establish organizational priorities, operational goals, and performance expectations across the PMO portfolio.
  • Develop strategic partnerships across LANL organizations, NNSA stakeholders, universities, industry partners, and the broader Nuclear Security Enterprise.
  • Drive organizational alignment between operations, business development, technical delivery, and customer priorities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, operational discipline, collaboration, innovation, and mission focus.


2. Operational Leadership & Program Execution


  • Provide executive oversight for the successful execution of technical and operational programs across the LANL portfolio.
  • Ensure programs are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards, contractual requirements, DOE directives, and LANL procedures.
  • Oversee operational performance including staffing, resource planning, budgeting, forecasting, and workforce utilization.
  • Drive operational excellence through process improvement, quality assurance, risk management, and customer responsiveness.
  • Partner with Project Managers and Operations teams to resolve high-risk or high-visibility issues impacting delivery or customer relationships.


3. Financial Performance & Organizational Growth


  • Own overall PMO financial performance, including revenue growth, profitability, backlog development, overhead management, and achievement of annual business objectives.
  • Develop and execute growth strategies aligned with LANL mission priorities and TechSource strategic goals.
  • Drive business development, capture strategy, and long-term account expansion.
  • Maintain visibility into pipeline development, forecasting, and strategic opportunity positioning.
  • Support major capture efforts, proposal strategies, customer engagement activities, and strategic pursuits across DOE/NNSA and national security markets.
  • Ensure operational capacity, workforce planning, and organizational readiness support sustainable growth objectives.


4. Client & Stakeholder Engagement


  • In coordination with the SVP Western Operations, serve as a senior interface for LANL customer relationships and strategic stakeholder engagement.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with LANL leadership, NNSA stakeholders, DOE organizations, and other federal partners.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction, responsiveness, and alignment across all active engagements and strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain deep understanding of LANL organizational priorities, operational challenges, mission requirements, and evolving national security initiatives.
  • Represent TechSource as a trusted mission partner capable of delivering high-value operational and technical solutions in complex national security environments.


5. Leadership, Culture & Organizational Development


  • Lead and develop a high-performing organization of Project Managers, technical SMEs, operations personnel, and business support staff.
  • Reinforce a culture of integrity, professional development, and high performance across the PMO.
  • Support employee engagement, leadership development, recruiting, retention, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Mentor organizational leaders and reinforce strong partnership across delivery, operations, and growth functions.
  • Champion safety, integrity, quality, and ethical conduct throughout the organization.


What Success Looks Like in the First 12 Months


  • Established as a credible senior partner to LANL leadership and NNSA stakeholders, with active engagement across the customer organizations most relevant to the PMO portfolio.
  • Stabilized and strengthened delivery across the PMO, with measurable improvements in program execution, customer satisfaction, and team performance.
  • Developed and begun executing a growth strategy aligned to LANL mission priorities and TechSource's long-term position in the Nuclear Security Enterprise.
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM, business, or operations management discipline; advanced degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience supporting DOE, NNSA, LANL, or DoD environments, including at least 6 years in senior leadership or operational management roles.
  • Demonstrated success leading operational organizations, technical programs, or mission-driven portfolios within national security environments.
  • Deep knowledge of LANL organizations, mission priorities, operational structures, and Nuclear Security Enterprise stakeholders.
  • Proven experience managing portfolios of contracts, operational teams, customer relationships, and financial performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence, organizational growth, and business performance.
  • An ability to have an onsite presence at the Los Alamos based PMO.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Active DOE Q Clearance.
  • Extensive familiarity with DOE/NNSA operational frameworks and LANL mission integration.
  • Experience supporting weapons modernization, engineering operations, mission assurance, infrastructure programs, or national security technologies.
  • Existing relationships within LANL, NNSA, DOE, and related national security organizations.
  • U.S. citizenship required.Active DOE L Clearance (or DoD Secret equivalent) required; ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance.


Compensation


  • Base salary range: $225,000 - $275,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Eligible for annual performance-based bonus.
