What you will enjoy doing*
- In this role, you will lead
the interface with the business on Linde's consideration of US ITCs and PTCs from a tax perspective, including but not limited to evaluating potential projects for qualification, advising on requirements for qualification and compliance obligations and reviewing and advising on tax language in agreements related to such matters (with customers and suppliers) - Identify
and evaluate potential solutions for structuring transactions to add incremental value or reduce risk. Work with various stakeholders to determine the feasibility of such structures - Support
business in modeling the tax impacts of proposed transactions and various structures - You will be responsible
for understanding implications of intercompany transactions necessary to support the project, including identification of indirect tax issues and/or transfer pricing considerations - Evaluate
potential tax risks associated with potential transactions, including whether tax reserves are needed and related implications of indemnity and/or insurance options - You will work
with legal, corporate accounting, and treasury to identify interdependencies and related impacts of proposed projects - Monitor
proposed and enacted legislation, including statutes, regulations, and regulatory guidance to be able to provide tax technical analysis of the impact to the company of such legislation (proposed or otherwise) - Partner
with and manage, as necessary, outside advisors in support of business initiatives - You will be responsible
for obtaining information needed for income tax compliance obligations and support in preparation of any schedules or disclosures required for tax reporting and tax compliance - Also, you will support
and manage any tax audit related to credits claimed on federal income tax return - Work
with the Corporate State Income tax team as necessary to determine any potential impacts at the state level of the tax credits - Support
Corporate Federal Income tax team as necessary on any relevant non-ITC or PTC tax credits
What makes you great
- You have a Bachelor's degree required, plus 8-10+
years of experience with corporate US federal income tax, including related compliance obligations - Strong
working knowledge of US federal tax credits, with particular emphasis on Section 45Q - In addition you have understanding
of and experience with prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements enacted by the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 - Experience
reviewing tax provisions of customer and supplier agreements for tax issues - Ability
to evaluate risk inherent in complex projects - Proven
experience working in cross-functional teams - you have the ability
to act as a trusted advisor to the business, while maintaining managerial courage - Proven
ability to develop advocacy positions on technical matters - Strong
project management skills and proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time under tight deadlines - Strong
research and analytical skills / detail oriented, is required in this role, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills a must - Understanding / experience
with US GAAP tax reporting / compliance
