Position Summary: Hunt Utility Services is currently seeking a Sr. Project Manager to lead the execution of high-voltage transmission and substation projects (138 kV, 345 kV and beyond). The Sr. Project Manager will guide projects from concept through construction and commissioning-working closely with Owner's Engineers (OE), Engineer of Record (EOR), construction teams, and key stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes. While this position won't perform detailed design, they will lead and coordinate the teams that do. This position will be responsible for developing and managing project schedules and cost forecasts, ensuring alignment between scope, engineering, and field execution. This is a great opportunity to build leadership capability, strengthen decision-making, and gain full lifecycle experience across complex utility projects. Responsibilities:
- Manage execution of transmission and substation capital projects from initiation through close-out
- Develop and maintain project schedules aligned with engineering, procurement, construction, and outages
- Develop and manage project cost forecasts and budgets
- Track performance against cost and schedule and implement corrective actions
- Coordinate with Engineers to define scope and develop inputs
- Coordinate with Construction Manager to monitor field execution and resolve issues
- Work with Project Controls to validate cost and schedule data
- Lead cross-functional meetings across engineering, construction, and controls
- Maintain visibility into dependencies, constraints, and risks
- Oversee WBS alignment, PR coordination, and invoice validation
- Provide leadership updates on cost, schedule, and performance
- Coach Engineers and improve execution consistency
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (or equivalent)
- Minimum 10+ years of experience managing electric power projects, including high-voltage transmission lines, cables, and/or substations
- Experience with large-scale capital programs ($100M+)
- Experience delivering projects across all phases: concept, engineering, construction, commissioning, and close-out
- Strong understanding of multi-disciplinary project delivery, including electrical, civil, structural, environmental, permitting, construction, and commissioning scopes
- Experience managing projects for utilities, grid-scale energy, or large infrastructure environments
- Experience with project controls, document management, and cost tracking systems, or ability to learn required tools
- Proven ability to work independently and lead cross-functional teams, including coordination with internal stakeholders, engineers, and contractors
- Strong technical, analytical, and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to present information clearly and effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Willingness to travel to project sites and attend meetings as needed
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Advanced degree in Business, Management, or Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Project Management Professional (PMP) accreditation
- Experience in ERCOT or U.S. utility markets
- Familiarity with utility-specific project management processes and standards
- Experience with project management, cost control, or scheduling tools
- Experience with proposal development, negotiation, and stakeholder alignment
- Demonstrated strength in developing presentation materials and leading executive-level discussion
