DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the daily operation of SCI Chester by supervising inmate work crews and performing a range of maintenance and repair tasks. It plays a key role in ensuring upkeep and safety of our facilities. As a Corrections Maintenance Foreman, you will perform the following duties:
- Crew Supervision: Direct inmate work crews in completing maintenance, construction, lawn care, snow removal, and janitorial tasks
- Work Planning: Plan daily schedules, assign tasks, and inspect completed work for quality
- Equipment Instruction: Teach the safe use and basic care of machinery, tools, and vehicles
- Order and Discipline: Maintain structure, safety, and proper conduct during work activities
- Trade Assistance: Perform or assist with carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, masonry, welding, or other skilled trade work
- Tool Control: Issue, track, and account for materials and tools which will include conducting searches of inmates and work areas

- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience performing building maintenance, construction, or general trades work; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of the training academy in Elizabethtown, PA.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
