Administrator II (Oracle / PostgreSQL) *Location:* Hybrid (2 days onsite - Tuesday & Wednesday) | Must be within 1 hour of Mount Arlington, NJ *Experience Level:* Mid-Level (2-4 years) *Overview:* We're looking for a Database Administrator II to support and maintain critical database environments across both on-prem and cloud platforms. This is a hands-on role focused on Oracle and PostgreSQL, working closely with engineering, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability. This team is also leaning into AI-driven productivity tools (enterprise ChatGPT, Perplexity, Cloud Code), so any exposure or interest in leveraging AI in daily workflows is a plus. *Key Responsibilities:* - Provision and configure Oracle and PostgreSQL databases across dev, test, and production - Manage backups, recovery (RMAN), patching, and access controls - Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform SQL/instance-level tuning - Partner with engineering teams on schema changes and performance optimization - Support HA/DR strategies (including replication and Data Guard) - Assist with capacity planning and environment health checks - Begin automating routine DBA tasks through scripting and orchestration tools *Required Qualifications:* - 2-4 years of experience administering Oracle and/or PostgreSQL - Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with tools like RMAN, SQL Developer, pgAdmin - Working in Unix/Linux environments - Experience with backup/recovery processes and database security controls *Preferred Experience:* - Oracle Multitenant and PostgreSQL replication - Cloud database platforms (AWS RDS, Azure, OCI) - Infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible) and Git - Exposure to compliance/audit requirements in data environments - Interest or hands-on exposure to AI tools for productivity *Core Competencies:* - Strong problem-solving and performance tuning mindset - Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate clearly - Proactive ownership of database operations and maintenance - Attention to detail in managing system reliability and uptime *Career Growth:* This role is designed for someone building toward a lead DBA path. The next step (DBA III) includes leading large-scale upgrades, driving strategic initiatives, and mentoring junior team members. *Job Type & Location*This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Arlington, NJ. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.
