As an R&D Architect, you will be part of the CTAO Office, reporting to the CTO for AI and Autonomous Networks. Your mission is to bridge the gap between architecture and product execution, ensuring that Nokia's autonomous networks architecture is effectively translated into practical, scalable, and commercially viable products. You will collaborate across business groups, research teams, and ecosystem partners to define and validate technology choices, creating working proof points and guiding Nokia's transformation towards horizontal, reusable autonomous network capabilities.
- Contribute to Nokia's autonomous networks architecture, focusing on data platforms, agent runtimes, model infrastructure, governance, security, and product integration.
- Serve as a senior technical liaison between the CTAO office and Nokia business units, ensuring successful productization of architecture and validation outputs.
- Translate architectural concepts, prototypes, and proof-of-concepts into product requirements, reference architectures, implementation plans, and reusable engineering artifacts.
- Work closely with business unit architects, product managers, and engineering leaders to align autonomous networks architecture with product roadmaps and customer-facing solution priorities.
- Define productization paths for key capabilities such as agent runtimes, data products, AI/ML model services, telemetry pipelines, orchestration frameworks, and secure lifecycle management.
- Create and maintain architecture artifacts that business units can utilize, including design patterns, reference implementations, technical specifications, API/interface guidance, and validation criteria.
- Evaluate architectural validation artifacts and determine the necessary enhancements for product adoption, including hardening, simplification, generalization, or modularization.
- Support decision-making regarding build, buy, partner, and open-source options for autonomous network platform components.
- Participate in architecture reviews, design reviews, and implementation planning with engineering teams across Nokia.
- Identify and address gaps between CTO-level architecture and product unit execution, driving alignment on technical ownership, integration boundaries, dependency management, and delivery sequencing.
- 15+ years of relevant experience in telecom, cloud, edge computing, data center infrastructure, network automation, AI infrastructure, distributed systems, or platform software.
- Strong track record of translating architecture into product requirements, technical specifications, implementation plans, and production-ready software.
- Experience working across CTO, product management, architecture, and engineering organizations to bring technology from concept to market-ready products.
- Deep understanding of cloud-native infrastructure, including Kubernetes, containers, Helm, GitOps, CI/CD, service-oriented architecture, telemetry, and distributed platform operations.
- Familiarity with edge or distributed infrastructure, encompassing lifecycle management, onboarding, provisioning, configuration, updates, monitoring, remediation, and decommissioning.
- Knowledge of AI-native platforms, including LLMs, RAG, model serving, model lifecycle management, agent frameworks, tool integration, evaluation, and guardrails.
- Good understanding of autonomous networks, network automation, orchestration, closed-loop operations, intent-based systems, and AI for network operations.
- Experience defining APIs, interface contracts, reference architectures, integration patterns, reusable software components, and platform services.
- Strong grasp of telemetry and operational data pipelines, including logs, metrics, events, streaming data, observability systems, and closed-loop automation.
- Knowledge of security and governance concepts, such as secure onboarding, identity management, access control, policy enforcement, auditability, trusted execution, and operational safety.
