Physical Therapy Instructor/Assistant Professor

The Department of Physical Therapy in the School of Health at Rehabilitation Sciences at the MGH Institute of Health Professions invites applications for a 12-month, 1.0 FTE Instructor/Assistant Professor Faculty with primary responsibilities in clinical education. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the design and management of clinical education courses, contributing to the development of students as clinicians in all domains of professional clinical practice, and contributing to the development of clinical education faculty as clinical teachers, mentors, and practitioners. As a member of the physical therapy faculty there are also responsibilities related to advising, scholarship, and service.
The position will also include clinical teaching in the Marjorie K. Ionta Physical Therapy Center for Clinical Education and Health Promotion. The PT Center is a pro bono center dedicated to clinical education that offers comprehensive services to individuals in the community who may not otherwise have access to physical therapy care or those whose insurance benefits have expired but still need continued therapy.

ABOUT MGH INSTITUTE:

MGH Institute of Health Professions is a graduate school in Boston that provides entry-level and post-professional programs in Nursing, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Genetic Counseling,Occupational Therapy,Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant Studies. The PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences and a PhD and Master of Science in Health Professions Education have been added in recent years along with two new programs: Master of Health Administration in Leadership and Master of Science in Healthcare Data Analytics to meet rising demand for highly educated health care professionals, educators, and researchers. Integrating classroom learning with research and clinical experience, the Institute grants doctoral and master's degrees, awards certificates of advanced study, and offers continuing education to practicing professionals.

The Department of Physical Therapy offers a 3-year Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and 1-year Residency programs in Orthopedic Physical Therapy and Sports Physical Therapy. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates are expected to have a clinical doctorate (DPT degree)
  • Candidates must have current physical therapy licensure in Massachusetts
  • Minimum ofthree years of full-time (or equivalent) post-licensure clinical practice
  • Prior clinical and/or academic teaching experience

The IHP is committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation that reflects each faculty member's experience, expertise, responsibilities, and performance. The expected base salary range for this position is $95,000 to $145,000, based on faculty rank (Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor), qualifications, and discipline. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of job-related factors such as academic and clinical experience, teaching responsibilities, education, licensure, specialty, training, market, and internal equity. This range represents base salary only and does not include benefits or other elements of total compensation; details about the full compensation and benefits package will be shared during the recruitment process.
