About the Role

The University of Missouri System is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Specialist - IT to support enterprise-wide procurement of technology goods and services. This role partners with campus departments, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure effective sourcing strategies, strong contract management, and high-value purchasing decisions.

This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with experience in procurement, vendor management, contract administration, or related business operations who are interested in influencing complex purchasing decisions across a large, multi-campus system. While this role supports IT-related purchasing, deep technical IT expertise is not required, the focus is on sourcing, contracts, and supplier engagement

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support strategic sourcing activities for IT-related purchases, including contract review, negotiation, and execution in alignment with University policy
  • Develop and manage competitive bid processes, including drafting specifications, evaluating proposals, and awarding contracts
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to departments by providing guidance on procurement processes, policies, and best practices
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders, acting as a liaison to resolve issues and ensure successful outcomes
  • Analyze purchasing data to identify cost savings opportunities, contract optimization, and process improvements
  • Monitor supplier performance and support continuous improvement in service quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction
  • Contribute to ongoing initiatives that enhance efficiency, consistency, and the overall value of procurement services

Shift

Negotiable, but typically Monday through Friday from 7 am to 4 pm, or 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, or 8am to 5pm.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, vendor management, contract administration, or related fields
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience evaluating proposals and managing competitive bid processes
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and identify opportunities for improvement
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $58,000 - $63,000 annually

Grade: GGS-010
