The Ultrasound Imaging Specialist plays a key role in designing and executing in vivo cardiac imaging studies within the Rosenthal Lab. This position focuses on high-resolution echocardiography, including image acquisition, analysis, and protocol development to support cardiac structure and novel techniques in functional phenotyping.

Key Responsibilities (What you contribute):

  • Perform in vivo cardiac imaging using echocardiography (B-mode, M-mode, Doppler)
  • Support experimental design and contribute to protocol development and optimization
  • Analyze and interpret imaging data, including statistical analysis and data reporting, delivering high-quality, reproducible data in a timely manner
  • Perform biomethods including injections, tail tipping, ear notching and blood collection
  • Assist in training and supporting students, staff, and collaborators
  • Promote safe lab practices, ensure compliance with IACUC protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment
  • Update and develop new protocols, and maintain drug inventory in compliance with all institutional, local, state, and federal regulations
  • Oversee instrument operation and ensure proper maintenance and calibration
  • Work collaboratively with team members to support overall research goals
  • Support general lab operations as needed including but not limited to, colony maintenance, genotyping, histology, dosing, necropsy and preparation of tissues for downstream analysis

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (What you're good at):

  • 3+ years of hands-on in vivo mouse research experience (5+ preferred)
  • Strong skills in animal handling, husbandry, dosing, and necropsy (advanced experience preferred)
  • Experience with imaging modalities (e.g., ultrasound, MRI, CT) is a plus but not required
  • Ability to analyze data and interpret results with attention to detail, experience with PRISM, R and Python preferred
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented research environment
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Word required
  • Professional, reliable, and adaptable, with a positive and team-oriented attitude
  • Willingness to learn and develop expertise in echocardiography
  • Flexibility to support research needs, including occasional after-hours work if required

Experience: 3 years required/5 years preferred

Pay Range: $27.18 - $45.51
