LOCATION: Rochester, NY

SUMMARY: The Shipping and Receiving Manger will have oversight of all regional Shipping and Receiving operations for the COE, to include the stand-alone Warehouse if applicable. Design, implement and oversee all Shipping and Receiving strategy to include efficient material flow, storage, and material organization between all sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and managing the warehouse and transportation operations within our regional facilities to ensure accurate and timely incoming and outgoing shipments. Oversight of all employees in the Shipping and Receiving Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Responsible for inbound and outbound transportation traffic to enhance timely, cost-effective deliveries and improve our responsiveness to our customers. Evaluate Ship/Rec manning needs across the region and potential employees in training phases.

Facilitate Customer returns, Customer complaint resolution and state of rework or material destruction in a timely manner.

Conduct monthly safety/business meetings with the Shipping/Receiving Department throughout all facilities.

Responsible for efficiency, enhanced performance and accuracy of Finished Goods, Raw material and WIP inventory. Conduct monthly cycle counts as needed or requested. Participate in the Annual physical inventory as needed.

Manage and monitor all sites Fork truck and transfer truck maintenance and repair and make recommendations for future requirements of those assets.

Process payroll information for the Shipping/Receiving Department (i.e., timecards vacation forms and absence sheets).

Conduct OSHA approved forklift/scissors lift training.

Monitor freight claims and complaints with transportation contractors are processed in a timely basis. Oversee the recycling of materials in the facilities.

Assignment Complexity - Must be able to take proactively demonstrate effective problem-solving ability. Supervise and manage material handling personnel and material handling activities across the region, to maintain a smooth flow of materials between the plants. Maintain an organized warehouse, working closely with vendors to meet the needs of the facilities. Work with teams to execute projects to fulfill new business goals and advance continuous improvement of processes and procedures.

Accountability/Discretion - Ensures implementation of SOP through indirect reports to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, rules, and industry best practices. Serves as the subject matter expert (SME)/advisor

Working Relationships - Must demonstrate effective communication and develop working relationships with Leadership, front line supervision, key outside stakeholders, etc.

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 2-3 years of direct Shipping and Receiving experience within an industrial manufacturing environment and 3 years within a leadership role.

  • Work with teams to execute projects to fulfill new business goals and advance continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
  • Support and interface with transportation carriers and contractors for inbound and outbound transportation of freight. Facilitate transportation for any emergency shipments.
  • Track Shipping costs from major transportation contractors. Set goals for costs and participate in quarterly meeting to report status and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare and conduct all S/R employee performance evaluations. Develop, monitor, and actualize employee development goals. Make recommendations for training.
  • Consistently finds ways to add new value and mitigate risk by improving the flow of the product across the business. Responsible for efficiency, enhanced performance and accuracy of Finished Goods, Raw material and WIP inventory. Conduct monthly cycle counts as needed or requested. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
