Position Summary

Join our team as a Marketing Specialist, where you will create compelling visual and digital content that brings our parks, programs, events, and community spaces to life. In this role, you'll lead the development of engaging photo, video, and multimedia storytelling that connects our community to the Parks & Recreation experience. Be part of a fun, collaborative team dedicated to inspiring participation and celebrating the impact of our public spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capture and produce high-quality photo and video content highlighting programs, events, facilities, and community stories
  • Plan, shoot, and edit short-form and long-form video for social media, web, and promotional campaigns
  • Develop engaging digital storytelling content across platforms, including social media, website, and email marketing
  • Collaborate with staff to identify and tell impactful stories that reflect community engagement and program outcomes
  • Maintain and organize a digital media library of photos and video assets

This role will also occasionally support the broader marketing team on larger projects and department-wide initiatives as needed.

Essential Duties

Designs and produces marketing content materials for the Parks and Recreation Department, including brochures, guides, advertisements, newsletters, business materials, banners, posters, online content etc., while ensuring materials maintain the proper brand standards of the Parks and Recreation Department.

Coordinates the printing/production process of marketing materials; including securing competitive quotes from vendors, preparing files for printing, overseeing vendors to ensure delivery within determined deadlines, and distribution of materials to necessary personnel once received. This may include in-house printing, cutting, folding and distribution of materials as well as the rotation and removal of old materials at a given site.

Involvement in the writing and proofing of marketing materials and press releases.

Collaborates with staff for the collection of program information necessary for the development of marketing materials.

Designs facility/program logos and wordmarks as directed.

Coordinates site-level fundraising, sponsorships and advertising sales.

Assists with day-to-day functions of the Parks and Recreation Department by performing tasks that include, but are not limited to, design or creation of promotional materials, taking photographs, attending meetings, website maintenance and updating the Department's social media sites.

Coordinates site-level execution and evaluation of promotional strategies consistent with outlined marketing plans, strategic positioning, branding and goals

Contributes to the development of marketing plans for new and existing programs.

Coordinates marketing planning and implementation support for various special events and projects. May represent the marketing team onsite as outreach support.

Works professionally with all staff, participants and volunteers.

Performs other duties as assigned/required.

Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Advertising, related field preferred.

Minimum 2 years' experience coordinating marketing and promotional design and production.

Experience with relevant software applications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Effective written and verbal communication skills the ability to give and understand oral instructions.

Decision-making, conflict resolution, negotiation, and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and as a team member of Corvallis Parks and Recreation Department staff.

Proficiency in Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint.

Extensive experience in Adobe, InDesign, Word Press, Photoshop and Illustrator.

Ability to learn new programs as technology advances.

Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, recognize priorities and meet deadlines.

Ability to work with minimal supervision and to produce accurate work in a timely manner.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and judgment in dealing with sensitive or confidential information.

Good customer service skills, and the ability to interact with groups of all ages.

Ability to get along well with coworkers, the public, staff and volunteers and to maintain effective working relationships.
