Position Summary The University of Illinois Chicago School of Public Health is seeking a dedicated professional to serve as its next Academic Advisor of Undergraduate Programs. This position is responsible for promoting the academic, professional, and overall development of undergraduate students within the School of Public Health from their recruitment through graduation. Serves as a primary academic advisor for students in the BA in Public Health Practice, BS in Public Health Sciences, and Minor in Public Health, providing guidance on degree requirements, university and school policies and procedures, opportunities for enrichment, and campus resources from pre-application to orientation and through graduation. Duties & Responsibilities Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in education, social work, public health, or a related field. - At least two years of academic advising experience in higher education. - Working knowledge of university undergraduate academic policies and procedures surrounding registration, academic records, and admissions as well as resources available for students. - Experience with student databases and degree audit systems (e.g. Banner, uAchieve, iAdvise, Slate, or comparable applications). - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and video-conferencing software. - Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with diverse internal and external constituencies (students, staff, faculty, parents, campus and community partners, etc.). - Demonstrated ability to support students of greatly diverse backgrounds in both individual and group settings. - Demonstrated ability to work effectively both individually and in a team setting. Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree in higher education administration/college student personnel, college student development, counseling, social work, public health or a related field.
