About University Health Behavioral Health

University Health Behavioral Health is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team as a Nurse Care Manager. Located in the heart of Kansas City, this vital role supports the holistic health of adults with severe and persistent mental illness residing within our residential programs. The Nurse Care Manager bridges the gap between psychiatric care and general medicine, ensuring our clients receive coordinated, high-quality healthcare that empowers them on their journey toward recovery and independence.

Why You'll Love Working Here

In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to look at the whole person, managing both the psychiatric and medical needs of clients in a supportive community setting. Rather than performing rapid-fire bedside nursing, you will serve as a clinical coordinator and health advocate, working closely with residential teams to build meaningful relationships with clients. We foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment where your nursing expertise is highly valued, professional growth is encouraged, and work-life balance is a priority.

Key Responsibilities

  • Holistic Care Coordination: Support and monitor both the complex psychiatric and chronic medical needs of clients living within our residential group homes.

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Coordinate care directly with psychiatrists, primary care physicians, specialists, and community pharmacies to streamline client treatment plans.

  • Medication Reconciliation: Perform thorough medication reconciliations during client transitions, admission to the program, or following discharge from external medical facilities.

  • MAR Management: Systematically manage, update, and validate the Medication Administration Record (MAR) books across the residential program to ensure safety and clinical accuracy.

  • Clinical Advocacy: Act as a medical resource for residential staff, providing guidance on health monitoring, potential medication side effects, and chronic disease management.

Perks of the Position

  • Fulfilling Work-Life Balance: Reliable daytime schedule that offers a sustainable alternative to traditional 12-hour hospital shift work.

  • Comprehensive Benefits Package: Competitive compensation alongside robust medical, dental, vision, and retirement benefits.

  • Dedicated Leadership Support: Work under a Director of Nursing and management team deeply committed to ensuring your caseload is manageable and your professional well-being is protected.

  • Innovative Community Nursing: Gain specialized experience in community-based behavioral health nursing, utilizing cutting-edge tools to support psychiatric recovery.
