Summary
The Medical Technologist II POC performs Point of Care laboratory testing for the Anschutz campus and Network of Care sites. Participates in laboratory quality assurance activities with knowledge of regulatory requirements. This position will have heavy interaction with our clinical nurses, helping assist and manage the testing they complete.
Shift
Monday - Friday, 4 10-hour shifts
8:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
On call every 4th weekend
Rotating holidays working/on call
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for evaluating point of care results for clinical significance and validity, and for recognition of atypical/abnormal results requiring additional follow up.
- Teaches, trains and/or mentors healthcare professionals and new point of care employees according to standard operating procedures.
- May participates in procedure review and writing.
- May perform validations, verifications and implementation of new assays and devices.
- Ensures quality control is acceptable and point of care devices are functioning and maintained within defined tolerance limits and documentation is completed.
- Consciously works to identify errors and takes responsibility for correcting and documenting errors in a timely manner.
- Performs point of care laboratory functions according to standard operating procedures and guidelines established by regulatory agencies.
- Assists operators in troubleshooting point of care devices when requested or when results are questionable.
- Participates in point of care operator competency assessment and documentation.
- Responsible for maintaining basic knowledge of current laboratory regulations and quality indicators.
- Participates in evaluating quality assurance activities such as maintenance, reagent storage and quality control review.
- Participates in coordinating proficiency testing for all Point of Care testing locations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degrees
- Area of Study
- in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory or medical technology from an accredited institution.
- Experience
- Minimum Experience. Required: Two (2) years of clinical laboratory experience.
- Equivalency
- Combination of additional experience and education may substitute on a 1:1 year basis.

- Additional Requirements
- License/Certification required at time of hire. Requires one (1) of the following: MT or MLS.

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
Hourly Range: $31.55 to $47.32
