Job Summary

Support the development of the science operations system for the UVEX space mission. Develop science data requirements, participate in instrument simulation and calibration planning as they relate to science operations and data analysis. Support the ongoing science operations of the NuSTAR space mission. The position is part of Caltech's Space Radiation Laboratory, which develops and operates science missions for NASA. SRL emphasizes a dynamic and collaborative work environment with opportunities for skill development and job growth.

Essential Job Duties

  • Prepare data management plans and science operations systems requirements.
  • Interface with the UVEX science team to understand needs for simulations as they relate to data analysis algorithms and approaches.
  • Support the generation of observing plans and data QA for the operating NuSTAR mission.

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in physics, astrophysics or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience at the postdoctoral or staff scientist level.
  • At least 1 year of experience with science mission operations.

Hiring Range

$79,700 - $105,000 Per Year

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
