SUMMARY

To work closely with associates to accomplish the team's tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Shift Leader must have a good working knowledge of the product line of the Department being lead. Shift Leader will be responsible to manage manufacturing issues and escalates to the proper authority as needed. In addition, this person must ensure cell associates observe prescribed safety precautions. This is a hands-on roll where the shift leader will oversee the shift in the Supervisor's absence, and at the same time, work closely with associates to accomplish the team's tasks.

DAILY



  • Ensure that the work areas are safe and that associates are being safe in their work.
  • Understand and Update Gemba Boards
  • Ensure scrap is reported properly daily.
  • Ensures supplies and component parts are requisitioned in a timely manner to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
  • Ensure all paint usage logs are updated daily. (Where applicable)
  • Ensure that all final assemblies are inspected before packaging and all information is recorded as per process or work instructions. (Where applicable)
  • Ensures all team members are assigned to specific areas within the work cell for optimum productivity.
  • Ensures work is being performed according to written manufacturing/quality procedures.
  • Ensures all production reports are turned in at the end of each shift
  • Ensures all work orders are picked and scanned at the end of each shift.
  • Communicates and aids in resolving quality issues and process improvement
  • in area-to-Shift Supervisor.
  • Monitors and makes suggestions for scrap reduction.
  • Ensure all associates are trained for all operations within the department.
  • Communicate problems or propose improvements to PCS documents.
  • Coordinate and ensure 5S efforts are being performed.
  • Reports any safety, quality, production, or personnel issues to the Shift Coordinator.
  • Attend meetings and be familiar with production schedule as well as Dispatch Report to assure schedule is being met.
  • Communicate with alternate shift team leaders to highlight production or quality issues.
  • Write maintenance requests as needed to ensure a safe, efficient, and productive work environment.
  • Ensure non-conforming material is properly identified and dispositioned.
  • Able to perform daily Toolbox talks.
  • Conduct daily/weekly team meetings as needed.
  • Assist in other departments as needed
  • Forklift


  • Conflict Resolution skills a plus



Ensures supplies and component parts are requisitioned in a timely manner to ensure uninterrupted work flow.

Ensures all team members are assigned to specific areas for optimum productivity.

Directs and makes assignments for team members as required.

Ensures work is being performed according to written manufacturing/quality procedures.

Assures that team has a 10-15 minute meeting with alternate shift once a week to discuss opportunities that affect each shift.

Ensures all production reports are turned in at the end of each shift

Ensures all work orders are picked and scanned at the end of each shift.

Ensures downtime reports are filled out and turned in daily.

Communicates and aids in resolving quality issues and process improvement in area to Area Manager

Monitors and makes suggestions for scrap reduction.

Assist in training.

Coordinate and ensure housekeeping and cleanliness.

Reports any safety, quality, production, or personnel issues to Manager.

Be familiar with and assure production schedule is met.

Assure materials are available for production.

WEEKLY

Conduct daily/weekly team meetings.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and

procedure manuals. Ability to write written routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
