Advantage Technical is placing a direct-hire Mechanical Design Engineer with a leading scientific manufacturer in Sturbridge, MA specializing in advanced optical and fiber optic systems. You'll lead product development end-to-end, driving innovation in a technically demanding, high-precision environment. What You'll Do (Job Duties) Lead product development from concept through validation and manufacturing transition Design mechanical systems, tooling, and equipment for precision optical applications Apply DFM/DFA principles and GD&T to optimize designs for performance and manufacturability Select materials and components to meet demanding technical and environmental requirements Conduct design reviews and manage verification and validation activities Maintain engineering documentation, BOMs, and change control Drive continuous improvement, including additive manufacturing methods Collaborate with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain Manage multiple project timelines and technical priorities simultaneously What You Bring (Requirements and Qualifications) Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 5-10 years of design engineering experience Strong product development and project management background Advanced CAD proficiency; Autodesk Inventor experience preferred (training available) Deep understanding of GD&T and machining/manufacturing methods Typical Client Benefits Include the following.
