Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to support our steel erection projects. This role involves preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project specifications, and collaborating with project managers and field teams to ensure competitive and profitable bids.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to prepare accurate cost estimates
  • Perform quantity take-offs and material pricing for structural steel components
  • Solicit and evaluate quotes from vendors and subcontractors
  • Collaborate with project managers and field personnel to assess constructability and logistics
  • Prepare bid proposals and assist with project budgeting
  • Maintain historical cost data and update pricing databases
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed
  • Support value engineering and cost-saving initiatives

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in steel erection or structural trades
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
  • Familiarity with estimating software and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for extended periods
  • Occasional lifting of documents or materials up to 25 pounds
  • May require occasional travel to job sites for site walks or meetings
  • Visual acuity to read drawings and review detailed documents

Work Environment

Remote and occasional visits to construction sites. Home office is in Frederick Maryland.
