Midwest Veterinary Supply is seeking a Vice President of Marketing. This remote role includes an expectation of travel to the corporate office in Lakeville, MN, at least once per month.

The Vice President of Marketing is a strategic executive leader responsible for developing, executing, and optimizing a comprehensive marketing strategy that drives growth, customer engagement, and brand leadership for Midwest Veterinary Supply. This role oversees all marketing functions, including strategic marketing, digital marketing, marketing automation, creative services (graphic design), and digital media production, while aligning closely with sales, purchasing, and operations in a distribution-focused environment.

The Vice President of Marketing will lead a high-performing team and partner cross-functionally to strengthen Midwest's position as a trusted supplier to veterinary practices, producers, and animal health professionals.

Job Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive, data-driven marketing strategy aligned with company growth objectives and market positioning.
  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to corporate strategy, innovation, and long-term planning.
  • Identify market trends, competitive opportunities, and customer insights within the veterinary supply and distribution landscape.
  • Drive brand positioning, messaging, and value proposition across all customer segments.

Digital & Omnichannel Marketing

  • Lead all digital marketing initiatives, including e-commerce marketing, paid media, SEO/SEM, email, and social media strategies.
  • Optimize online customer journey and digital experience across platforms.
  • Drive customer acquisition, retention, and lifetime value through integrated digital campaigns.
  • Partner with IT and e-commerce teams to enhance digital capabilities and performance.

Marketing Automation & Analytics

  • Oversee marketing automation platforms, CRM integration, and customer data strategies.
  • Implement segmentation, personalization, and lifecycle marketing programs.
  • Establish and track KPIs, dashboards, and performance metrics to guide decision-making.
  • Leverage data analytics to continuously improve campaign effectiveness and ROI.

Creative Services & Digital Media Production

  • Lead internal creative teams responsible for graphic design, content development, and multimedia production.
  • Ensure consistent brand identity and high-quality creative output across all channels.
  • Oversee production of digital media assets including video, photography, and interactive content.
  • Support product launches, promotions, and educational content initiatives.

Distribution & Channel Marketing

  • Develop and execute marketing programs tailored to a distribution business model, including B2B and B2C customer segments.
  • Collaborate and partner with sales teams to support field initiatives, key accounts, and channel partners.
  • Manage supplier co-op marketing programs and vendor partnerships.
  • Drive purchasing, catalog strategy, promotions, and seasonal campaigns.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing marketing organization.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Align team structure, processes, and resources with evolving business priorities.

Budget & Performance Management

  • Develop and manage the marketing budget with a focus on ROI and efficiency.
  • Allocate resources effectively across channels and initiatives.
  • Regularly report on marketing performance to executive leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Leads and develops the marketing organization, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and succession planning. Provides strategic direction and oversight to leaders across digital marketing, marketing operations, creative services, media production, and channel marketing. Establishes goals, monitors performance, and ensures alignment with overall business objectives while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Business, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior/executive role.
  • Proven experience leading marketing in a distribution, wholesale, or multi-channel environment.
  • Strong expertise in digital marketing, marketing automation, and data-driven campaign management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead creative teams and oversee brand development.

Preferred

  • Experience in animal health, veterinary, agriculture, or healthcare-related industries.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and B2B customer engagement strategies.
  • Experience working with supplier/vendor marketing partnerships.

  • Lifting/Physical Effort: Minimal; may occasionally lift light materials (e.g., marketing collateral, event materials up to ~20 lbs.).

Equipment Used

Standard office and mobile technology, including computer/laptop with peripherals, smartphone, office equipment (printers/copiers), and common business, marketing, analytics, creative, and communication software platforms, along with occasional use of audiovisual and event display equipment.
