Controls Engineer, SBU

The Plant Controls Engineer is responsible for planning, testing and coordinating the implementation of preventative actions in the production lines to establish and verify capable/stable and reliable production processes in terms of safety, quality, delivery and cost. Below are additional duties, not all inclusive.



  • Work with Maintenance Supervisors, Business Unit Leaders or Engineering Group Leaders to evaluate, implement and obtain approval for program changes.
  • Work with IT groups to modify and /or update machine/assembly PLC programs and communication programs as they relate to plant network.
  • Investigate and resolve issues associated with machining and facilities equipment, assembly automation, workstations, robotics and automated equipment.
  • Maintain and update controls documentation, including schematics and documents for machining/assembly, maintenance PMs.
  • Troubleshoot PLC controls, electrical components, servo-drives, motors, wiring-cables in cable trays and panels. Review and make program changes on Siemens, Fanuc, Rockwell, ABB and a variety of other control systems. Capture and document changes, updates prints... etc.
  • Lead, coordinate and facilitate trouble shooting electrical issues, problem issues as they relate to equipment downtime, throughput improvement, or any safety concern (interlocks, switches, etc.).
  • Help troubleshoot and make improvements on all electrical facilities and equipment using input from Production, Maintenance Supervisors, Business Unit Leaders, Engineering Group Leaders, tradesmen, operators, and vendors/service providers.
  • Establish, maintain, update and administer electrical control plans.
  • Participate in all aspects of simultaneous engineering efforts to improve current processes and new projects.
  • Monitor and improve performance of production processes with respect to cycle time, uptime, etc.
  • Generate, prepare and present regular reports to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work with and support all plant operations in Stellantis Industrial Systems initiatives utilizing Stellantis Industrial Systems tools for continuous improvement efforts, including Kaizen's and other quality improvements aids.
  • Assist with Engineering Work Orders and training of Skilled Trades and Writing Standardized Maintenance Procedure. Also reviewing top losses and determining solutions. root cause identification, resolution, countermeasures, and prevention.


Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
  • 2+ years' experience in a controls/automation or related engineering role
  • Proficiency with control-system programming, including PLC languages and industrial software tools
  • Strong analytical skills and a proven ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical/electrical control systems
  • Flexibility to work all shifts Daily, weekend and holiday overtime
