A well-known healthcare facility is experienced Patient Account Representative to join our Revenue Cycle team in a self-pay, patient-facing capacity. This is primarily an inbound call center role: patients call in after receiving statements and need clear, empathetic guidance on their balances, insurance coverage, deductibles, and payment options. Your goal on every call is outstanding customer service - and collecting payment or establishing a plan before the call ends.

This role is fully onsite and a long term temporary position.


Qualified candidates MUST have:
  • Answer inbound patient calls regarding billing statements, balances, and insurance responsibility
  • Explain insurance coverage, EOBs, deductibles, and patient responsibility clearly and empathetically
  • Collect payments or set up payment plans on every appropriate call
  • Assist patients in understanding and applying for Financial Assistance programs
  • Perform follow-up calls on patient balances prior to accounts being referred to collections
  • Make outbound collection calls when inbound call volume permits
  • Document all patient interactions accurately and in a timely manner
  • Update demographic, insurance, and account information based on verified data
  • Manage call volume efficiently - keeping handle time appropriate without compromising care
What we're looking for
Healthcare billing, patient financial services, or collections background - hospital or medical office experience strongly preferred
Ability to explain insurance concepts, EOBs, high-deductible plans, and patient responsibility to non-clinical patients
Collections-minded with genuine empathy - can ask for payment while maintaining a positive patient experience
Efficient communicator - able to keep calls concise and productive without being dismissive
Comfortable working inbound call volume in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with credit and collection policies, HIPAA, and payer requirements
Proficient with PC and standard business office systems
