Job Overview
The Vice President of Clinical Operations provides strategic leadership for systemwide capacity management and patient throughput, utilization management, and discharge planning, developing and maintaining strong partnerships with executives, physician leaders, and peers across the system of care to ensure a unified approach to care delivery. This role oversees OneCall, House Supervisors, internal patient transport, case management, and care coordination teams to ensure seamless patient progression, operational efficiency, and high-quality care delivery across all system locations.

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $242,560 to $363,840
Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) and Patient Care Services leaders across the system to develop a system-wide vision for the division, ensuring alignment with the larger system vision and strategy. Drives performance outcomes for clinical and nursing functions, while ensuring alignment with the system-wide vision and strategy for patient care services.
- Partners with physician leaders to establish the system-level vision for capacity management and patient throughput, utilization management, and discharge planning. Ensures alignment with the organization's strategic priorities, academic mission, Magnet principles, and value based care. Leads the development and execution of a system wide strategic plan, annual goals, and performance metrics.
- Oversees systemwide capacity management and patient throughput operations, in partnership with physician leaders. Drives enterprise wide flow optimization through proactive surge planning, predictive demand modeling, and patient throughput management.
- Partners with revenue cycle, coding, and physician advisers to develop and lead denial prevention and management strategies. Establishes concurrent review protocols and organizational standards for payer communication and engagement.
- Oversees the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of OneCall, patient transport, case management, and care coordination teams. Drives outcomes related to quality, safety, patient experience, and financial performance. Serves as the senior point of escalation for operational and customer service issues.
- Contributes to system level leadership activities and system-level goal achievement. Designs organizational structures for OneCall, patient transport, case management, and care coordination teams that reflect strategic direction. Champions culture transformation to advance organizational priorities.
- Develops and implements broad operational policies, standardized workflows, and key performance indicators. Serves as the executive sponsor for major improvement initiatives, technology optimization efforts, and cross functional change management involving nursing, physicians, ancillary services, and administrative partners.
- Communicates vision, strategy, and major initiatives across all levels of the organization. Provides expert guidance to senior leadership on the operational implications of strategic decisions and organizational priorities.
- Maintains effective working relationships with executives, department chairs, service line leaders, and external partners to drive performance toward organizational goals. Leads governance structures responsible for real time capacity decision-making, throughput optimization, and discharge readiness oversight.
- Establishes annual goals and expectations, provides direction, and develops leaders within assigned areas. Evaluates team performance, provides continuous feedback, and manages hiring, corrective action, and separation decisions.
- Holds accountability for operational and capital budgets within scope of responsibility. Evaluates staffing models, technology investments, and resource needs to strengthen organizational performance, operational efficiency, and service delivery.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements and supports audit, monitoring, and risk mitigation activities across assigned functions.

Minimum Qualifications
- Degrees
- Master's Degree in Nursing.
- Experience
- Five (5) years of nursing clinical experience and five (5) years of leadership experience over clinical operations and staff.
- Licenses & Certifications
- Registered Nurse
- Nurse Executive or Nurse Executive Advanced required within 12 months of hire; active member in a nursing or professional healthcare organization.
