THE ROLE:

We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Researcher to join our growing team. Our research team focuses particularly on places where we can have an outsized impact with relatively small teams, while staying abreast of new technologies, working closely with startup companies, academia, and product teams to ensure that AMD remains agile in a world of constant innovation. We touch a variety of technology across the boundary between hardware and software.

THE PERSON:

As a Research Engineer, you will help to design and develop disruptive technology which will impact Current and Future AMD technology. The position requires both excellent technical and communication skills and the ability to make progress in a relatively unstructured environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Driving technical innovation to improve AMD's capabilities across validation
  • Developing prototype technology and communicating value inside and outside of the company
  • Active collaboration with teams inside and outside of the company
  • Leading collaborative approach with multiple teams

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Well-developed programming skills in a variety of languages (e.g. C++, HIP/CUDA, Rust, Python, Triton, Verilog, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of hardware design and computer architecture concepts
  • Deep understanding of concurrency at different levels, from low-level vector code and RTL design to distributed systems.
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and the ability to both 'go deep' while understanding the broader context
  • Demonstrable record of impactful research, demonstrated by publications and code releases
  • Must be a self-starter, and able to independently drive tasks to completion

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Advanced degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
