Position Summary
The Thaxton Laboratory at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a highly motivated and creative Postdoctoral Research Associate to investigate how cell biological processes of signaling, metabolic wiring, and organelle homeostasis shape immune function in cancer.

Our laboratory studies the intersection of cell biology, metabolism, and tumor immunity, with a particular focus on endoplasmic reticulum (ER) architecture, proteostasis, mitochondrial function, and cellular metabolic adaptation in tumors. We integrate mechanistic cell biology with translational cancer research using advanced microscopy, metabolomics, CRISPR engineering, imaging, and functional cellular approaches.

Candidates with backgrounds in cell biology, metabolism, molecular biology, immunology or related disciplines seeking to generate high-impact work to establish a career in academic medicine are encouraged to apply.

Current projects in the laboratory include:
* ER architecture and organelle remodeling in immune cells
* Cellular stress responses and proteostasis in cancer
* Metabolic control of immune cell fate and function
* CAR-T cell biology and solid tumor immunotherapy
* Organelle communication and lipid metabolism
* Advanced imaging approaches to define immune cell state in tumors
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD in Cell Biology, Immunology, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Must have strong publication record and evidence of scientific creativity and productivity
* Excellent communication and organizational skills
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
PhD in related field
