*Senior** Technical Data Lead (Player-Coach)* *Job Summary* We're looking for a highly motivated *Senior** Technical Data Lead* who thrives at the intersection of strategy, execution, and deep technical understanding. This is not a traditional people-manager role focused on status updates or task delegation-this is a *player-coach* position for someone who can dive into the ecosystem, ask the right questions, identify gaps, and drive meaningful progress.
You'll play a critical role in shaping the future of our data organization by building a clear roadmap, operationalizing processes, and ensuring the team delivers high-impact work with accountability. While you won't be coding daily, you must be technically credible, able to get into the details, and guide the team with confidence. This role is ideal for someone from a *mid-to-small company **background* who has worn multiple hats, brings strong ownership, and is known for getting things done. *What You'll Do* *Technical Leadership & Strategy* * Develop a strong understanding of our data ecosystem and how systems, pipelines, and tools connect * Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities (e.g., monitoring, error handling, tooling, processes) * Define a forward-looking data strategy aligned with business goals * Evaluate and introduce new capabilities (e.g., AI tools like Snowflake Cortex) *Execution & Ownership* * Take accountability for outcomes-not just planning or delegation * Build and drive a clear roadmap within the first 90 days * Ensure initiatives move from idea plan execution completion * Advocate for the team's time to address foundational issues and technical debt *Operational Excellence* * Establish and standardize core processes including intake, prioritization, and work tracking * Ensure consistent execution and delivery discipline across the team * Improve how work is scoped, delivered, and measured *Leadership & Team Development* * Get to know the team's strengths and areas for growth * Provide direction, clarity, and accountability * Hold the team accountable for timelines and quality-while enabling them to succeed *Cross-Functional Collaboration* * Partner across teams to align priorities and drive outcomes * Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights * Communicate trade-offs, risks, and priorities transparently *What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)* * A clear data roadmap is defined and in motion * Core operational processes (intake, prioritization, tracking) are established and adopted * Strong understanding of the ecosystem, with identified gaps and improvement areas * Building credibility with the team and leadership through action and insight * Beginning to hold the team accountable for outcomes and timelines *Job Type & Location*This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Remote, OR. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
