Purpose:

You will provide fire protection and detection engineering services to Worley and its customers, including technical support within the mechanical engineering team.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver fire protection and detection services that meet Worley, its customers and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
  • Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures.
  • Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes.
  • Size, select, specify, perform technical evaluation of bids and vendor document reviews.
  • Proactively resolve any discrepancies between Worley and its customer's requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with the project stakeholders, including the customers.
  • Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.

What you will bring

Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in the design and analysis of fire protection systems and life safety issues for Substations and Power Generation industry including simple cycle and combined cycle power plants.
  • Experience in estimating project costs and writing proposal content.
  • Experience with all aspects of fire protection equipment and system procurement, including sizing, selection, specifying, evaluation of bids and vendor document reviews.
  • Experience with fire water distribution system hydraulic calculations.
  • Experience with design of fire alarms, suppression systems, explosion protection and hazardous area classifications.
  • Able to work with project engineering to maintain consistency of deliverables, communication among disciplines, and cost/schedule control.
  • Experience with fire and explosion assessments.
  • Highly effective technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its customers.
  • A sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.

Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

  • 4 or 5 year Bachelor degree in Mechanical/Fire Protection Engineering.

Preferred:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States is preferred.
