The Accountant role requires a strong understanding of the relationship between business operations and financial performance, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide concise, forward-looking, management-focused recommendations. This position exercises a high level of analytical and problem-solving ability to evaluate complex financial information, identify trends, and support management in establishing and achieving organizational objectives.

This role performs advanced professional accounting duties related to complex financial recordkeeping for multiple entities, including detailed accounting analysis, allocations, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Responsibilities include preparing cash management reports, financial statements, and other financial analyses, while ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The Accountant II also coordinates and actively participates in year-end audits and supports process improvements.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Maintains and analyzes the integrity and accuracy of general and subsidiary ledgers for multiple business units by reviewing complex transaction activity, reconciling accounts, and allocating revenues and expenses across accounts and budgets;
  • Prepares, reviews and reconciles various operating, regulatory and financial statements to ensure accuracy and conformity with established accounting classifications and federal/state regulations;
  • Prepares complex, non-standard accounting analyses such as allocation methods, rate applications, and reforecasting;
  • Prepares, reviews, and posts complex monthly journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and reclassifications related to business operations and financial reporting activities;
  • Maintains current understanding of regulatory issues related to transactions and projects;
  • Performs account reconciliations for areas of responsibility as required for accurate financial reporting;
  • Coordinates and assists with internal and external audit activities, including preparation of audit schedules, supporting documentation, and responses to audit inquiries;
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and standards;
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities;
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge in accounting software systems, financial reporting tools, and spreadsheet applications;
  • Working knowledge of financial analysis and reporting;
  • Skill in reading and interpreting financial data;
  • Skill in oral and written communication;
  • Ability to communicate with customers, employees, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner;
  • Ability to make sound decisions using information at hand;
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments;
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail;
  • Ability to work with various levels of management and peers to provide accurate and timely information.


Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and a minimum of 3 years of accounting experience required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with financial analysis, account reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting, and general ledger accounting is strongly preferred. Knowledge of accounting systems, and advanced spreadsheet applications required.
