Overview

The VIRGINIA Class Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) Electrical Cableway Engineering group has an opening for a highly motivated engineer. Candidates must be able to lead small groups, work independently and be willing to interact with other engineering disciplines, vendors, NAVSEA, and the design community. Candidate should have knowledge of Systems Engineering, and Electronics and System Software design. Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills are required.

Responsibilities include the following:

    Lead coordination efforts between system engineering, major area team leaders, program office, design and engineering, and leadership
  • Lead coordination efforts between multi-system engineering groups and arrangements design
  • Perform non-standard cableway hanger analysis
  • Perform relative movement calculations, concepts, arrangement validation, cableway development, and cable routing development
  • Support selling ship's arrangements to the government
  • Candidate must be organized and able to manage relationship between ships requirements and arrangement compliance
  • Responsible for cost and schedule performance of assigned tasks
  • Responsible for managing multiple projects and/or assigned tasks
  • Responsible for developing and presenting system information/status as the design progresses
  • Develop and peer review ERs /CNs


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 0-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the Department of Defense

Preferred:

  • Background in military or marine applications
  • Background and experience working and/or interfacing with the construction and planning yards
  • Experience with fatigue/stress analysis specifically with using Commands software.
  • Familiarity with TeamCenter / Vismock / Catia /CDM
  • Familiarity with systems engineering principals
  • Experience with any of the following preferred: DC power supply design, cathodic protection theory, electric field theory, software development, electronics design, active and passive cathodic protection design.
