Position Title: Technical Manager - Tankers

Reports To: Director, Technical

Schedule: Monday through Friday business hours and additional as required

Location: Dania Beach, FL

Position Supervised: Technical Superintendents

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.

Experience

5+ years of experience in marine engineering, fleet technical operations, or vessel management.

Languages

English

Traits

Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to develop, motivate, and hold team members accountable. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient with computers and fleet management tools. Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple vessels and projects. Ability to travel as necessary, sometimes on short notice, including for shipyard projects and drydock oversight. Organized, decisive, and results-oriented.

Preferred Qualifications

Skills/Software

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams). Experience with Nautical Systems - Enterprise (NSE).

Education

Maritime academy graduate or degree in marine engineering, naval architecture, or related maritime discipline. USCG Senior engineering license.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Reviews and approves various QSMS instructions and procedures
  • Responsible for shipyard repair oversight, including:
  • Monitoring repair work and associated budget
  • Negotiating and settling related invoices
  • Responsible for the technical aspects of assigned vessels
  • Review vessel performance documentation and data
  • Monitoring operating budgets
  • Reviewing safety meeting minutes and commenting as needed
  • Responsible for long-term shipyard planning
  • Maintenance scheduling and developing standard jobs
  • Confirming that repair vendors meet all technical and quality requirements
  • Responsible for ensuring assigned vessels meet stakeholder requirements, including:Federal and applicable State/Port Authorities, customers' ship terminal policies, and company policies.
  • Approve ship purchase requisitions where needed
  • Coding invoices and receipts when necessary
  • Promoting a professional relationship with the officers and crew; convene safety meetings
  • During vessel visits, addressing issues important to management
  • Ensures operational and mechanical soundness of Company vessels
  • Communicates continually with vessel operators/charterers with respect to the operational activityof the vessels
  • Works with the HSSEQ staff on shipboard issues relating to safety, quality, and environmentalgoals
  • Conducts periodic vessel visits
  • Perform such other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as may be required or directed by the Fleet Director
