Senior/Lead Financial Planning Analyst
We are open to hiring at either the Senior or Lead Financial Planning Analyst level. (salary band and years of experience listed are for senior level) We are looking to hire someone to work in our Columbus, Ohio office with a hybrid schedule (3 days/week in office)
Job Summary: We're looking for a Financial Analyst to join our FP&A team, supporting Columbia Gas of Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. This is a highly visible role that partners closely with State Presidents and senior leadership to provide insights that drive better business decisions. In this role, you'll be responsible for planning, forecasting, and managing departmental O&M budgets, along with delivering monthly financial reporting and variance analysis. You'll also play a key role in preparing and leading monthly financial results discussions clearly communicating variance drivers, highlighting risks and opportunities, and helping leaders understand where performance is trending relative to the year-end outlook. Key Responsibilities:
Support the monthly close process, including preparing select accrual and reclass journal entries Analyze monthly financial results (actuals vs. forecast, plan, and prior year) to identify key trends and performance drivers Partner with business leaders across Revenue, Field Operations, Corporate O&M, and Capital to understand and validate variance drivers Develop clear, concise explanations of variances, including key risks, opportunities, and impacts to the year-end outlook Prepare and facilitate monthly financial results presentations for State Presidents and senior leadership Analyze Return on Equity (ROE) performance, comparing earned results to allowed and planned targets, and explain key drivers impacting variances and overall financial performance Prepare and manage departmental O&M budgets and headcount for Gas Presidents departments Partner closely with Field Operations to align on headcount assumptions Support depreciation planning through analysis and forecasting of general depreciation expense Support Regulatory Asset and Regulatory Liabilities planning, including forecasting balance sheet activity and key drivers Lead the development of annual financial plans and supporting materials, including facilitating plan review sessions with State Presidents and senior leadership Collaborate with the Regulatory team to support rate case filings, including responding to discovery requests and providing O&M planning data Identify and implement process improvements to enhance forecasting accuracy and reporting efficiency Respond to ad hoc financial analysis requests with timely, actionable insights to support business decisions and strategic initiatives Operate effectively with minimal supervision while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field 3+ years of experience in finance, accounting, regulatory, or a related field Strong financial and business acumen, with the ability to connect financial results to overall business performance Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail Solid understanding of financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement) Working knowledge of O&M budgeting and forecasting processes Experience supporting senior leadership and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with financial systems such as PeopleSoft, Cognos, Hyperion, HFM, or similar financial reporting tools Experience in a regulated utility or energy industry environment Knowledge of regulatory processes and experience supporting rate case activities Experience with financial modeling and data-driven financial analysis Familiarity with Annual Financial Plan (AFP) process and timeline Experience preparing or presenting materials to executive leadership Experience improving or automating financial processes, reporting, or forecasting tools

Salary Range*: $82,200.00 - $123,200.00
*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity. Posting Start Date: 2026-06-11
