We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, scientifically curiousResearch Technicianto work in the lab ofDr. Sean Morrison at the Children's Medical Center Research Institute (CRI) at UT Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. The Morrison lab's goal is to better understand the mechanisms that regulate stem cell function and how cancer cells hijack these mechanisms to enable tumor formation. A better understanding of these mechanisms offers the potential for new regenerative medicine and cancer therapies. For more information about the Morrison lab, please visit
The ideal candidate is an organized, proactive professional who will support one or more postdoctoral fellows with their research projects by performing genotyping of the lab's mouse colony, general mouse work, and data analysis. This would be an excellent role for a recent college graduate who desires to gain additional years of hands-on research experience before pursuing graduate school or medical school.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace. The position requires mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds (such as a laptop computer or tablet). Work may involve possible exposure to malodorous vapors, low dose radiation, contamination by toxic chemicals and acids and presence of carcinogenic substances.
