Essential Job Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative and operational support for faculty-led sponsored research proposal development and submission activities. This role assists faculty and research teams by reviewing funding opportunity announcements, coordinating proposal requirements, developing and reviewing budgets, compiling required documentation, ensuring compliance with sponsor and institutional guidelines, and submitting proposals through agency portals. The position also supports the completion and processing of required NC State University forms, approvals, and protocols to facilitate timely and accurate proposal submissions.

Work Schedule 40 Hours Per Week, 8: 00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote)

Minimum Experience/Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, research administration, public administration, or a related field with relevant experience supporting proposal development, grant administration, sponsored research, financial management, or administrative operations.
  • Equivalent education and experience may be considered.

Department Required Skills

  • Experience with budget preparation and financial documentation review.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with faculty, research teams, and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to review, interpret, and follow detailed funding guidelines and institutional procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing proposal materials and supporting documentation.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification.
  • Prior experience supporting proposal development, sponsored research administration, or grant submissions in a university or research environment.
  • Experience working with sponsored agency requirements, funding opportunity announcements, and electronic submission systems.
