AsaPRN Speech Language Therapist,you willprovide a full range of diagnostic and rehabilitative services for patients with speech-language and/or swallowing disorders. Tests, evaluates, plans, and developsappropriate therapymodalities based on the patient's individual ability/disability. These functions are performedin accordance withall applicable laws andregulationsand MedStar Georgetown's philosophy, policies,proceduresand standards.

Primary Duties:

  • Provides direct speech, language, and swallowing evaluations and re-evaluations, including assessment of prior and current level of functioning, settingappropriate goalsand makingappropriate dischargerecommendationsin accordance withstandards of practice.Providesdirect SLP treatments according to standards of practice, including patient and family education, progression of treatment plan and implementation ofappropriate therapeuticinterventions.

  • Utilizesappropriate documentationforms and abides by PM&R's documentation standards. Coordinates and prioritizes own schedule in relation to demands of patient treatment and other departmental responsibilities.

  • Demonstrates proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.

  • Collaborates with physicians, patients,familyand other members of health care teamrelativeto patient treatment and progress as well as other affiliated agencieswith regard toeffective discharge planning.

  • Maintains CEUs per state requirements for continued professional competency.Adheres to all Department of Health and Joint Commission regulations with regards to the physical environment and patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degreeinSpeech-LanguagePathology.

  • SP-L - Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in the District of Columbia.

  • BLS (Basic Life Support).

  • 1-2 years related clinical practice experience inan acutecare or rehabilitation facilitypreferred.
